i had the same problem as you, US phone, live in Europe. Only way to get it repaired with warranty was to send it to the US, but I also needed a US adress to get the phone sent to when it was fixed. I called the Samsung Europe and got the company's name Samsung sends the broken phones to for repair. I send it straight to that company and it was fixed in a few days, and also under warranty! even though i didn't expected to be. So the only costs I had was the mailing costs to a company in my own county( 5 or 6 EUR).
the reparation descripton was: changed a board. I don't know what board they replaced, but now my phone works again.
