Since it seems nobody is looking at these forums but us, I wanted to share the work around I came up with.  I downloaded an app called GoTasks from itunes.  It was the highest rated free app that synced with Google tasks.  This app syncs with Google tasks very seamlessly, and in an almost identical fashion (once you turn off all the bells and whistles in the settings).  All tasks display fine in this third party app (but not Googles offical web app...).  It actually loads my lists faster than the web app loaded, and makes my tasks available when I have no signal too, which is a nice change.  I will not be using any of the additional functionality this app provides, and I would love to get back to the point where I can use Google's version, but for now, it gets me back up and running.  Now to go knock out some more of the tasks on the list (:
