Chassy: it is easy to switch back and forth. There are two independent parts: the cloud-based task management service that Google provides, and the client you use as a front end to the service. The client can be a web page or an app, it can be on your phone or your computer. Any number of different clients can use the same service. Google's Tasks service is fine. It is their client that has always been lame. If you switch to use GoTasks, it will have you log into your account, and you will see the same list of tasks you had before. You can manipulate them in GoTasks, then go to your laptop/desktop computer and see the same new tasks reflected in that other client.
