Vol-Up Answer Died with Gingerbread

When my Optimus S was at 2.2.2 FroYo, I installed "Total Call Control" so I could answer the phone by pressing the vol-up button; reject it by pressing vol-down. This app did what the phone should have done in the first place -- provide an alternative to using that stupid slider to answer the phone.

Then the phone OS upped to 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Nothing really changed for the better, and one thing got worse: I can’t answer the phone by pressing vol-up anymore. It tried un/reinstalling the app, updating my profile and PRL, nothing helped. Worse yet, it does work sometimes, but I can’t understand why.

The app’s page even addresses the problem with “This is the only app on the market to support all devices (Gingerbread answer incoming calls included)!” I guess I’m the only exception to that.

My local Sprint store is willing to revert me back to FroYo. That seems like a drastic solution to my problem, but unless someone here can find a better one, that’s what I gotta do...
