The workaround I believe is swapping your external sd with USB storage space.
Thus having the player itself see external SD has the usb storage:

I haven't tried it myself but it seems like it is working.

the question I had was if it does make my song offline, where does it actually save the file to?
I've been trying to find it but I can't find it for some reason..
I've been able to move my non-google music to my sd and my default music player sees it.
Then I made my googe music app make one of my online music to be available on offline..
waited for it to download and went back to my default music app and searched for my recently-made-into-offline music, and was not able to find it....
Where the heck did google music app save the offline song to?
I have my default music folder moved to sd and I checked there but it's not there...
