This sounds normal for my old samsung gem. are you using wireless at home or cell to tower? try it set up with your home wireless router if you have that or goto a cafe like barnes and noble and hookup through wiify see if it takes it then.

note: data availability and coherance is required to use internet over the cell to tower method

Note2: my system of microamps to enhance cell range is not on the market nor prototype, since I have not enough money to do more than theory on it. I call it pluse wave theory.
