Guys I found a solution that worked for my issue of the screen now wanting to turn off and the button that turns the screen off not working.

I changed my screen going dark in options to 15 seconds. It didn't fix it instantly but by the next day my phone has been so much better. I don't have the issues anymore, then I tried to put it back to a minute and the problem repeated. So I put it back to 15 seconds and my phone is working great.
