Thanks, Chris. Actually, an answer is a variant on 'RTFM,' as follows:
My problems started UPON my downloading the upgrade to ver. 3.2.~. I followed the on-screen instructions at each try, both preserving, and then deleting my prior setup/history/favorites, etc. Despite all, my Tilt tilted / froze / etc.
Last night I searched again, and read the Google upgrade instructions. But this time, I used program manager to remove google maps mobile from my tilt. Then I used file explorer to remove all google maps directories / folders from my tilt, both from the main memory, and also from the storage card. (I guess I had previously installed it to each location.) Then I again downloaded & installed the ~.cab directly onto my storage card.
This worked like a charm - Very VERY fast, No freezing up, Nice new features, Better history, etc. etc.
It would have been nice if googloe's installer insisted on totally deleting the prior versions, and had checked both locations. It may or may not have been necessary for me to have manually deleted the folders from both locations (but I did & it worked.) This unusual location of old version folders in both the main memory and also on the card may explain the only occasional occurance of this problem.
It may also be nice for google to now modify the instructions (or even the installer . . . :-) re total removall.
Thanks for a good product - Much more to my taste than M$ live search!
