Google app has not loaded properly onto phone

Hi my name is Anna I have an iPhone 3. I am experiencing difficulties installing apps. I want the google app and click on "free" then click on "install" and the app shows up with an empty loading bar that indicates "waiting" rather than "loading". When I check back at the app store it says the app is installed. So I press the home button and the app still has not loaded... It should only take a few seconds right? What Is going on? Please can I get some help. Thankyou
