I just came across this thread when I did a search " google maps slow". I am relieved at the large amount of correspondence in many forums about the apparent decline of Google Map speeds.

I concur with the observations made in the first instance above. I have a 50mb connection with low pings of around 20ms on average, yet on our main PC and on our laptops, connected via powerline networking, Google Maps are increasingly slow. Generally web browsing has been snappier since our 50mb upgrade, perhaps because of the new router supplied, but Google maps is consistently slow or virtually frozen. Indeed immediately after Google maps has done it's worse everything slows down. Sometimes I have to reboot to restore speed. I get the same issues whether I am using Firefox, Explorer or the BTYahoo browser frontend.

I have tried TCP tweaking with better speed resultingall round except for Google maps which remains as slow as ever.
