On my Galaxy Nexus, following the latest Maps update, Navigation no longer speaks the names of the streets. I changed nothing in TTS (still using the default ICS TTS), only updated maps. Now, instead of street names, it simply indicates the direction of the next action (e.g., left, right, etc.). Makes it extremely frustrating (not to mention unsafe) to use, as I have to look down to see the street names on the display. Uninstalling the update is the only known solution. Google, please fix. :)
