Recent research for vacations and potential moves has highlighted the need for more geographically-based personal perspectives. I think an integration between City-Data forums and Google Maps would be
invaluable.I use city-data forums to get
personal perspectives from residents about their neighborhoods, towns, etc, so
when I travel I can visit those areas. And I’ve used them for moving questions, and this is what the majority
of users do.It’s a very active forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/
I envision a platform where the user types in a neighborhood
or city in Google Maps, and google displays that city/neighborhood, searches through city-data forums to find
relevant information, and then geographically displays this information on the
map so the user can view forum data if they choose.
This would combine two very important and time-consuming efforts: 1) viewing/mapping route and destination information and 2) researching those destinations. And better yet, it would provide a visual reference for both!
I'm curious if this is already being done, and if so, where? What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time.
