This is a very unique situation so I am going to see about getting it escalated to the Google grants team. I have some opinions as to how this should be processed (with a new grant account) but I do not want to lead you down the wrong path, especially if their might be an easy solution from the grants team.
I do recommend that you start prepping for a transition now and download the current account to the Google desktop editor. This will allow you to easily copy the account over if a new grant account is required, which I fully suspect it will be.
