How to STOP showing FOLLOWING posts

The number one problem I am having that IF I wish to FOLLOW someone I found, then all of a sudden ALL of THEIR posts are the primary posts on my page.
I post an article and it ends up down 2/3 of the way where no one reads.
The only solution. Stop FOLLOWING anybody; then I get the message that you need to follow at least 10 people in your circles.
You want to what my what with who?
I am probably dumb, but I thought the idea of Google+ and these is to highlight MY interests and posts, all the crap "I" follow should be sideline info, unless I put it IN a post.
I can create a PAGE but that too gets shoved down the list because someone I happen to follow posts something else.
Is there a way to highlight MY posts, and to show MY info.
I want to have it so if someone actually looks at my Google+ account then they see MY posts, not some other post that I may be following.
Any help greatly appreciated, but in all honesty, I really can't see the point of the current setup.
Why bother setting up a page so I can show you what I am looking at,  but ignore my ACTUAL posts?
MY FOLLOWING interests should be a simple link on the side bar, or similar, so if anyone wants to snoop and find out what I am watching, then they too can click on the link and follow too if they wish.
My Google+ account should be about ME!
My secondary grief is that IF anybody actually stumbles across the section (PAGE), by simply scrolling down to more and clicking "Pages", to the area where I create a PAGE with MY stuff, then theres no obvious way of returning to the so called main page! Hit the home page and its back to the PAGE?!? Its enough to make your head explode.
My solution is to set up a proper website where I can post stuff and have it shown, but that then defeats the purpose.
Like I say, I AM dumb, and I tried Facebook and found that to be a joke, and find that now I am trying to start an use this more, its just as confusing.
Maybe its just time to give up!
