If Google can allow Google+ Pages to specify a particular email address for notifications to be sent to, it seems reasonable to request that they do the same thing for regular Google+ Profiles.  The more people who make such suggestions through the Send Feedback tool through Google+, the greater chances are that this might happen at some point in time.
