You're not missing a thing. This is the point of my post up above. At this time, there is not a method in place to start a hangout on air on G+ in one Google account and broadcast it to YouTube in a different Google account.
You are going to have to create a G+ account on your YouTube Google account (this is the method described in my comment above). Then you share it to your current G+ audience.
Your other choice (I guess) is to create a brand new YouTube channel on your G+ Google account.
