I am having similar issues. I have added an app (from hangoutapps.com) .. and am unable to remove the button for the app which appears on the bar up top of a hangout. How does one 'completely' remove an app( extension) that is not listed in google chrome's extension list ?  I also would like to know if the app in question is actually loaded even when it is not active.
