You've learned a very hard lesson about stuff stored in "the cloud" - it isn't safe.  You must backup anything important you save out there (no matter what provider you use) or risk it's loss should something happen.  Many people have learned that lesson about computers, but most don't realize it's also true about things stored on-line.
