If you received an email and you aren't sure if it's a scam, read this. If any of these things are true, it's a scam. You can report it by pressing the down arrow button on the top right of the message and selecting "Report phishing".
1. Does the email ask for your Gmail password or claim to be from the Google security team? If yes then it's a scam. We will never contact you about account security issues via email.
2. Did a friend contact you and say they were mugged in a foreign place and need money? If yes then your friend has probably been hacked. Phone them and check even if the email states that they lost their phone.
3. Does the mail mention a Google Lottery? If yes it's a scam. Rule of thumb: if you don't remember entering a lottery then you can't win it.
If you still aren't sure if it's a scam, search this forum looking for similar mails and if you can't find any, post a new question using the link on the left. |
