found a way.

ok, so above your signature there is a "--". delete this and select the line below your signature, hit enter for a next line down and type something (anything)- you can even colour it white to make it less visible or whatever. this should sort it..
if an example is needed:
___________________________normal signature (which gets trimmed):


________________________________________________________________
___________________________altered signature (which doesn't get trimmed):
