Aurora (Northern Lights) Layer Challenge

I would love to see Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) data shown on GE. Using data from http://www.sec.noaa.gov/pmap/index.html

All of the detailed lat/long and values can be found by going to the FTP site (link at top of page) in the Data page. They even explain on the site how the data is quantified into a colour scale.

What I figure is that a script designed to get the latest data set and convert it into an image for GE, just as they do for their images. Only instead of centering on the pole, we must make the pole stretch across the top.

Unfortunately I have zero programming skills. I hope this inspires some of you. I can't wait to see the results.

Ok it took a while, there were some missed emails. But it's alomst ready to go. All the details have been sorted out, except one. Hosting the images. We had a problem using their ftp:// site, GE can't load images off of ftp. So she will have to talk to the webmaster this monday for using their http:// equivelant.

Well I know that I started this post a while ago, but here's an update.
I have gotten in contact with the people responsible for making the aurora maps. And they are excited at my idea, and are willing to make a set suitable for GE! Hopefully we will have this up and running soon!
