Town of Norwich had held a public art exhibition from 23 June to 31 August 2008 called Go-Elephants wherein 53 painted sculptures of baby elephants were displayed all over the city. The elephants were located in the open areas on the footpath as well as in the shopping malls/shop windows, parks and in other public places.
The baby elephants were made of fibreglass and had a theme based design painted on their body by the local artists. Each elephant was about 1.7 metre long, 0.75 metres wide, 1.2 metres tall and weighed approximately 50 kg.
After the end of the exhibition the baby elephants were auctioned for the benefit of local non-profit organisations.
The event was managed by Wild in Art in partnership with The Forum Trust.
Coincidently Google Camera Car was also in town during the exhibit period and has captured several of these colourful elephants.
Since the exhibit was temporary, the Google Street View images will be lost once the street view imagery is updated. I have therefore made an effort to save the screen shot of these Google Street View images of these elephants for posterity. With the help of GEC members Walter, Utapao and Kite, 27 out of 53 elephants were located and their screen shot is being included in this post. Full list of alongwith locations as obtained from the official web page of
Go-Elephants is given below. The names marked in red are those which were found in Google Street View, while the ones which couldn't be found have been greyed out. These are mainly those which were kept indoors or their location was not accessible to Google's camera Car.

Google Street ViewNote: I have not placemarked the individual elephants in GE as these cannot be seen in the satellite imagery. However for posterity I have anchored this post near the City Hall - the area which had maximum concentration of elephants and #1 elephant was stationed here. (Source:

Credits: I am thankful to Walter, Utapao and Kite for finding 15 out of 27 elephants.
