Thank You!  I just had used Google Earth and learned of a newer version (6.2?).  After downloading, the application would open and then immediately crash.  Your suggestion worked.  I intend to relay your "fix" to Apple's Genius Bar where I spent almost an hour yesterday with this and another malady they were unable to resolve.
