The approximate date is in the lower left hand corner.

Also Google never lets on when it will update an area

There could be newer images in the historical Images http://support.google.com/earth/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=148094 on Google Earth

Kindly note that Google Earth does not cover all dates and times with in the historical images
