Hi, if you can close the tooltips and start Google Earth, you can then go into the Preferences, General tab and uncheck "show startup tips".  Somebody else posted these tips which might be helpful:

Disconnect from internet (turn off airport or disconnect Ethernet cable).
Start Google Earth and go to Preferences (command ,)
Go to General tab and uncheck "show startup tips"
Go to Cache and clear both disk and memory caches
Quit Google Earth and connect to internet
Start Google Earth, it should work now.
