Hi –All I am new to Google applications and it would appear that Google is on the right track! I have a website that I would like to try Google Docs and Google list on! I am trying to figure out how to include a list of a organization files embedded into a webpage. Here is the deal, I have 10 people in different locations contributing to monthly sections of a webpage, we call them authors. Each of the authors have a different responsibility, lets say reports, announcements, pictures, minutes, news items, and etc., I will call these categories. There is one of the ten that is the publisher, corrects the document to what the organization needs to say before publishing to the public website. Ok this means that there needs to be some privilege settings. Once the document is ready for publishing it needs to appear in a list on the webpage for public viewing automatically, perhaps updating the list on the webpage at least 2 -4 times a day, if not immediately. Some documents (Minutes) would have to be limited to certain privilege viewers.
So the author has written their report and put it in his Local Google Docs folder under GoogleDocs/workingrep/rep10.doc that gets upload to Google docs organization/workingrep/rep10.doc where the publisher can review it and make corrections. Once the collaboration is completed and ready for public viewing the finished document can be Dragged and dropped to the Local GoogleDocs/reports/rep10.doc then Uploaded to the Google Docs site/googledocs/ organization /reports/rep10.doc.
Now comes the hard part somehow the list of files available on site/googledocs/ organization /reports/rep10.doc, to public and private viewers is listed on the webpage for them to click on and open to view in each category. Public viewers should not be able to open private documents.
The way I perceive this works is the author creates the document locally and just needs to drag it to the appropriate Google Docs folder for uploading. The public viewer should just be able to left click through the website to the correct webpage, category and document of interest that they want to view.
So has anyone done this or know now it might be done using Google Docs and Google List? Perhaps what is the embedded code might be!
Thanks mamje
