Over the course of the last two weeks, we've been attempting to implement Google Custom Search on our site. Unfortunately, the new search engine has been posing one fairly substantial issue that does not seem to be dissipating. Here is an example: if one were to search "Nipun" on our new search engine, one would receive results that correspond to stories on this year's Baccalaureate Speaker, Nipun Mehta. However, that user will also receive dozens of results pulling from the Issue Contents sidebar of each story in that issue (http://www.upenn.edu/almanac/search.html?q=nipun).
I've been consulting various webmasters, and we're still awaiting results from our most recent experiment: rendering the Issue Contents sidebar as JavaScript. Apparently, Google requires 3-5 days to reindex, and our robots.txt files was updated last Thursday. However, being that we're currently at something of a standstill, I wanted to reach out to the Google Help Forum to see if there was some other means of addressing this problem, or if we simply need to wait longer for reindexing. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I'm happy to field any questions related to our site.
