Incorrect search results

So we have installed google custom search with no real issues, except...

When I search for a term like "scholarship" on the first page it says I have 80 results (I get 8 links at the bottom of the page). When I click on page 5 of the results, suddenly it says I have 49 results and it clips off the other pages. It happens on other searches as well, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
