I diagnosed my error to be a corrupt GoogleUpdate.exe and GoogleUpdater.exe, so the installers seem to not verify the integrity of those files, and fail due to that. Trying to install any Google software requires these, and all updates, etc. fail due to that. Is there a way to reinstall these files? and, another question, why does Chrome use the googleupdate? why can't it do what Firefox does and have a 2-way update method. It uses an updater to update the browser, then when the browser launches, it updates the updater software. I am not behind any proxies or anything, it just appears that these programs are corrupt and Windows gets mad, and disallows installation because of the corrupt nature. |
