Did the same exact process.  This did not fix the problem for me for any pdf.  Running Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.3 all updates, Windows XP SP3 all patches and Chrome 5.0.375.99.  The only thing that consistently works is to disable 'Display PDF in Browser' in Adobe preferences.
