Today, I think I've got rid of Blekko.  On the left side of the blekko box there is a box with a down arrow.  I clicked that and it allows the user to manage search engines.  On clicking that, another dialog box opened and that allowed me to delete blekko and a host of other stuff which I didn't care for.  Problem solved.
