I'm posting now in May of 2011.  I use a variety of Macs with OSX, and a variety of WIndows laptops with XP and 7.  I have various versions of Chrome installed on all.  I've followed all of the instructions in this post.  I turn off auto suggestion, clear history since the beginning of time.  none of it works.  it is IMPOSSIBLE to turn of the auto suggest feature in the URL of Chrome.  I've been frustrated by this for several years now.  I don't understand why Google would both make it impossible to turn this feature off and also continue insisting that it can be disabled when it cannot.  Doesn't make sense.
I love Chrome and I'm a big fan of Google but this is one very big puzzling question that I have.
Would sure be neat if you guys could fix this.
