A neater, if not better, syntax for adding hyperlinks to the Description field in Google Calendar is to use standard html markup for links. Example: between the "<" and ">" brackets, add something like "a href='http://missouririverwriter.blogspot.com'" then the text to be linked, followed by "/a" in brackets.
