|Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||moofdogcow||5/28/09 10:49 PM|
This just started today - almost any video I try to watch either won't load at all, or stops loading after a certain point. I do not get any error messages, and even after clearing my cache (and resetting the browser altogether), I can't get most videos to load.
I use Safari, but I also tried to watch videos with Firefox - it doesn't work there either.
Oddly enough, some videos do load, others don't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it - but refreshing the page does nothing, and the issue (or non issue) stays consistent with each video (as in, if it didn't load before resetting the browser, it won't load the next time around either).
As far as I can tell, it's not a connection/bandwidth issue - everything else internet-wise is running just fine and dandy!
Anyone have the same issue? Or have a solution they'd like to share?
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||mr horrible||5/28/09 11:03 PM|
same problem here. also, i noticed that you can usually seek ahead a second or two when you hit a sticky spot and then the video will keep loading. I've tried all the things you mentioned as well to no avail. nice to hear i'm not alone.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||optimus304||5/28/09 11:05 PM|
i get the same issue as well. im not as computer literate as the rest of you so i havent done all that stuff yet. some older videos do load while some of the newer ones dont.
its kinda getting a little irretating
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||tyrahnie||5/28/09 11:12 PM|
i'm getting the same thing, i've been trying to listen to LDN by lily allen all day.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Toya||5/28/09 11:40 PM|
I've been having the same problem too on both computers. I thought it was something wrong with the browser or Adobe Flash but after switching to IE and then uninstalling then reinstalling the flash player, the problem persists. I can only guess its on Youtube's end. The same thing is going on at Google Video which, if you think about it, isn't that surprising.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||bchqq||5/28/09 11:57 PM|
ok instead of a million replies saying, "I'm having the same problem"
How about someone reply with a solution
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||GhostSniper1981||5/29/09 12:07 AM|
Same here. I'm using Rogers Hi-Speed here in Toronto with a cable modem and tried everything, so its youtube.
Hear us YOUTUBE FIX THE PROBLEM
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Stringprodigy||5/29/09 12:30 AM|
Add another to the list. Using Rogers Hi Speed south of Toronto. Running Mac OSX. Tried everything, so yes, it must be Youtube. I'm sure everything will be back to normal by tomorrow night.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||RUSKULL||5/29/09 1:02 AM|
Also from Toronto. I think somebody needs to collect a database of these issues and present them to either Rogers or the general consumer to prove that Rogers is in fact to blame. Too bad they never warn of such shit.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||With||5/29/09 1:34 AM|
Same, tried every trick there is with flashplayers. Unin/reinstalled, Cleard cache over and over, Disabled recient addons, tried different browsers, restarted.
I even went in to About:Config and disabled my cache, so it cant be a cache issue.
Somethings wrong with youtube, it either does not start loading the video, but then when it does load a little it stops 10 seconds later. And the server simply refuses to send me anymore data, I pinged the server it was loading from the speed was less than 30ms which is very low. lower than google.ca
And it wont be a exessive load / peak time issue since its 4:33 am and asia has differet servers, and they like to use asian sites anyways...
My guess is a server issue like everyone else.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||sicsemper||5/29/09 1:48 AM|
I too am in the Toronto area and with with rogers. They're probably testing out a sinister new youtube throttling system. This isp is horrible. Everybody I know who is with them has reported problems with the network recently. Canadian providers need to stop being so damn stingy with the bandwidth if we are going to keep up with the rest of the worlds internet technolgy. The main problem that we now face is the fact that we have very little in the way of choice when looking for an alternative provider. Rogers has us by the fucking cyber-balls!
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||RUSKULL||5/29/09 2:04 AM|
Whatever, Rogers fear of loss will only lead to it :(
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||incorporatedfx||5/29/09 2:07 AM|
Same problem, from Toronto. Stupid Rogers. Youtube is still awesome. haha
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||yuriythebest1||5/29/09 2:21 AM|
I have the same problem but I'm from Kiev, Ukraine. (ukrTelecom) - there used to be an issue every once in a while where I'd get a "sorry this video is not available try again later" message and usually refreshing would help, but today this problem appears seldom and the videos just won't play (that is sometimes they will, but that's like 5-10% of the time), sometimes skipping to a part of the movie helps a lil. Tried Firefox, IE- same thing. Uninstalling flash player completly and reinstalling didn't help either.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Avandrie||5/29/09 5:39 AM|
Like everyone else, I'm having the same problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv-QpT5uA1o
Instead of autostarting, it sits - doesn't load and the timeline slide bar reflects that the video is 0:00 minutes long, but if I move the slide over just a little, it seems to start from there. Then, halfway into the video it stops again and will not load any further.
The video uploaded was in WMV format, and was playing just fine last night (it was still being processed though). I do wish that the YouTube folks would respond to this question. Obviously SOMETHING is going on and it needs to be addressed.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||noteclip||5/29/09 6:28 AM|
I'm havin the same problem since last night. It was fine in early afternoon but when I got back home late at night it stops working. From Toronto with Rogers too.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||5/29/09 6:30 AM|
@ Avandrie, the video you linked to is playing fine for me here and now.
There's a pattern emerging in this thread... a lot of those seeing these problems are on Rogers (Canada) which, from other threads, seems to he having a big connectivity issue with YouTube. Hopefully that will be resolved soon.
Does Rogers still throttle the connection for those it suspects are torrenting? Is it possible this is related to that? There have been similar reports in the past about throttling by various ISPs, though I'm not sure you'll ever get a straight answer from them if this is the cause.
Don't expect a YouTube official response either, especially if this is a short-term issue.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||moofdogcow||5/29/09 6:36 AM|
Interesting - I was almost going to suggest that it was area-specific (I'm from Buffalo NY - just a stone's throw away from Toronto - Hey guys! :-D), but it looks like a few people are from other places as well. I use Cavalier High-Speed DSL here. Although the sheer number of people from the Toronto area having this issue can't be coincidence. How very odd! O_o
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Zooey in Miami||5/29/09 7:11 AM|
I am in Miami, FL. We've been having a lot of thunder storm activity here so I thought it just our area, which lost power for several hours day before yesterday. I have been having the same problem since yesterday AM so "Hello, Yahoo....FIX the problem!"
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Duderino179||5/29/09 7:24 AM|
I don't think it's area specific, because I'm from germany and i have the same problems, too. :/
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||taywilton||5/29/09 7:26 AM|
I am having the same problem in london ontario on rogers
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||kingtonyy||5/29/09 7:57 AM|
same here.. using rogers in toronto. damn it :(
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||dragonpenchant||5/29/09 8:40 AM|
seems to be working now.
i called rogers and they didn't really know what was going on (but said they'd receive other calls on the same issue).
but as i was talking to the guy, the problem seemed to resolve itself (for now anyway).
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||daxj1||5/29/09 8:49 AM|
i am in London and have the same problem for my video i uploaded yesterday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9_9JssJcRE just sits there and wont play untill i move the cursor???
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||kuopiofi||5/29/09 9:15 AM|
Kuopio, Finland: same problem.
Somebody fix this.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||squ33g3||5/29/09 9:27 AM|
Same problem. I've tried restarting my computer, doing a system restore, and everything else listed in this thread, but none of it has worked.
If you REALLY need to watch a video, type "&fmt=18" (without quotes) after the address. This is the only thing that's worked for me.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||starlifterfe||5/29/09 9:27 AM|
Sometimes the videos play OK, but most of the time [80%] they load slow so they buffer for minutes and then play for a few seconds. I have done EVERYTHING I can think of to fix it. I have re-installed Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Java, Flash Player, Shockwave Player, enabled popups, allowed cookies and cleared all history, caches etc. I have followed every procedure to fix the problem that I can find. I am just about fed up. I can play videos on DailyMotion and other sites with NO problems. I can watch videos on HULU with NO PROBLEMS. From what I can tell YouTube cares very little about the problems people are having. This problem started a couple of months ago. I rarely had problems then. I would appreciate some real help. sorry about the tone of this but I am a bit upset about all the time I have wasted on this.
YouTube is NOT too big to fail!
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||mpelalaa||5/29/09 9:35 AM|
I have a similar problem with one of my videos.
It won't start and it says 00:00/00:00. The video url is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI-KldyOlJ0
It is not a new upload. It was working fine until yesterday. Now it will only play if I click on the HQ icon at the bottom right or if I move the cursor.
All my other videos work just fine!
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||skinnerbox||5/29/09 9:47 AM|
I'm actually in Toronto but using Bell high speed internet and I'm getting the same problem since yesterday. What it says on the bottom of the browser is "transferring data from tc.v15.cache.googlevideo.com" (where the loading bar is for Firefox). Sometimes it loads but only maybe 10 seconds of the video. I'm also using a Mac OSX + tried safari and didn't work. Has anyone had any success yet?
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||December Sun||5/29/09 9:59 AM|
Semi-solution: I've had the same problem, and SOMETIMES I can get around this by going to the video, immediately hitting PAUSE and waiting for it to completely load, then hitting play. Sometimes this works.
I'd like to know of a real solution though.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||skinnerbox||5/29/09 10:03 AM|
Well right now I just went on youtube and I'm still getting the problem but when I put &fmt=18 after the URL the video loaded completely.
Though it is quite difficult to do this for every link. I hope youtube fixes this glitch soon.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||squ33g3||5/29/09 10:16 AM|
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||skinnerbox||5/29/09 10:21 AM|
I didn't read your post until now but I read "&fmt=18" from another board. Thanks anyway.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||number 9||5/29/09 10:23 AM|
I'm in Toronto as well, but with Sympatico (a lot of the users think Rogers is the problem...I thought Bell was the problem and was thinking of switching to Rogers). I have the same problem: it starts sometimes, then only if I move the bar a bit to the right, then only when I also double click the screen.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||squ33g3||5/29/09 10:23 AM|
It was probably my post. I've been going into several boards posting the same advice. Spread the word, brother :)
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||CoachWooly||5/29/09 10:32 AM|
Good advice from mpelalaa...when you click on the HQ button at the bottom right of the video, the Youtube video will play...if I don't press the HQ button, my player stays at 0:00 / 0:00 and doesn't budge no matter how many times I refresh the page...I thought my problem was from a recent upgrade to IE8, but sounds like many folks are having the same issue....and yes, I'm on Rogers as well.
Still, there should be a fix from Youtube as it's clearly their problem...everything was working fine yesterday, but has gone wonky today.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||skinnerbox||5/29/09 10:42 AM|
Okay now it says "an error has occurred, please try again later" even when I press the HQ button or add the &fmt=18 at the end.
Grrr. It was working perfectly fine 5 minutes ago.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Revan46||5/29/09 11:05 AM|
Well I don't get error messages, youtube obviously doesn't say "we're performing maintenance". I'm using Firefox but Explorer doesn't work either. I noticed when trying to watch some episodes of an anime on youtube and other videos. I notice just below the progress bar two little red lines appear once the video loads. I doubt it has anything to do with it but it still makes me think it's part of the glitch. It's 2pm now...so the fact this is still going on and no one has fixed it, it's ridiculous.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Clive1||5/29/09 11:20 AM|
Having the same problem. Tried all the various regular checks on my end and no change. Nebraska, local provider.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||themastersb||5/29/09 11:28 AM|
I am also having the same problem. It started yesterday for me and I'm having a problem with all my computers over multiple web browsers so I thought that it might have been a router issue and I tried resetting my router as well as restoring the factory defaults and none of that worked. Sometimes I will get "An error has occurred, please try again later" or sometimes it will just be blank and then every so often it will work again. I am using Rogers ISP in Ontario, Canada.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||mpelalaa||5/29/09 11:28 AM|
Mine works fine now. Have they fixed it then? I am in the UK, btw.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||skinnerbox||5/29/09 11:41 AM|
It's working now for me as well, albeit rather slowly.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Avandrie||5/29/09 11:58 AM|
I seem to be ok now too. Thanks Ebbix for taking a peek to make sure it was working and for telling me. :)
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||starlifterfe||5/29/09 1:19 PM|
I was able to watch Tool videos all morning. At 1:00pm Pacific everything just stopped. Now I can't watch anything. Yes, it is a YouTube problem and not your ISP. I think it is bullshit that YouTube doesn't admit there is a problem. A lot of people have wasted a lot of time trying to fix YouTube's screw up. If there was any decency there, they would tell us about the problem and give an estimate on when THEY will fix it.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||RealityIsFree||5/29/09 9:33 PM|
I am in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, using a wide-area regional provider. The problem started yesterday but is now clear. My ISP told me they would not dream of blocking any broad band channel, especially YouTube. The technician suggested that I reinstall the Adobe Flash player, but I did not do that.
My computer is 64 bit, running Windows Vista. The Adobe Flash player suggestion was that the 64 bit was the problem, but I have not changed anything. It worked before, and now after yesterday's glitch, it works again.
If this is a broadband provider problem, it is obviously upstream from my ISP. If it is not at the trunk level,
it must be a problem at YouTube which has been corrected.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||mczombie1||5/30/09 8:55 AM|
Same problem here in LA, California....
It's been really frustrating...
It takes me atleast 10 attempts to watch a vid...
i thought it was my computer.. but it happens on my laptop too.. and only on youtube...
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Atherworld||5/30/09 11:53 AM|
I believe Youtube is incompatible with Flash 10. Been this way since March, around the time of Flash 10. When you don't have Flash, it tells you to get Flash 9.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||disasterpastor45||6/5/09 9:41 PM|
I've been having the same problem for about a week now too. A lot of videos won't finish loading and play ceases. I just downloaded a 3 minute HD video of mine & it took 8 minutes, even with a near 10 Mbps connection running at about 10% that speed concerning this YT video. I've rebooted my modem, but that only helps momentarily. YouTube is becoming YouseLess.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||epiclulz||6/7/09 10:34 AM|
i have been having this problem for 2-3 weeks now. A 3 minute video will take about 10 minutes to load while before it would automatically load. Im from scotland and judging from everyone elses experience this isnt a location problem. I wonder why youtube hasnt noticed that people are having problems, or if they have, why havnt they told us they are fixing it!

May I also join the long list of ppl with this problem....I am on Firefox but hav just changed to Google Chrome....I am in Australia and hav ADSL 2+ connection...I too hav also installed new flashplayer...still the same problem...stops n starts....yet unlike some of you it only happens on my main comp...the laptop goes fine....they are both connected to the same wireless connection...so if anybody has the answer I am sure many UTube fans would be delighted to hear it....Good Luck all...Lets hope a solution is soon found...

This Is a world wide problem. im in Australia,
It could be Youtube Limiting views because of the server or something e.g. the internet is getting too big
Dunno, but it isnt us, its youtube and it seems it might be possible they are doing it on purpose, Right now utube sucks ass i wont be using it

sorry for dont bring a solution, instead a problem (reporting same problem)
I m in Portugal and this youtube, googlevideos and others non viewing remains for almost two weeks
i ve already try this, altough not fixing:
. Look in different Browsers (Mozilla, IE, Chrome)
. Uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash Player by adobe utilities page
. Managing add ons at Mozilla and IE
. Check my firewall and anti virus
. Use cccleaner and registry corrections
. Disable wmp, rmp or quick time as universal/generic video running utilities
. Try others freeware flash player utilities
I can properly see any videos at my computer but none at webpages.
At youtube or videogoogle the topic isn t show as worldwide problem, but in this thread we can see the tremendous impact.
Hope that someone somewhere is watching and give some reply soon.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||larmcc||6/11/09 9:24 PM|
I am not sure why this is not getting more attention. I am in IT, with an IT degree. The problem is not on the user side.
I can send a link out of a video. Most people can see the video, but some can not.
The page always loads, but the video does not start, even when pushing play.
If you move the slider to a new position, the video should load, but will often not play all the way through.
A video can work at one point in time, than at others it will not work even on the same machine.
It does not matter what ISP you have or bandwidth. This is affecting all people, including my @ work connection, which is a 45mbps full DS3.
This is affecting all sorts of videos, including ones that have almost 100k views.
Tried looking on how to send in the problem to youtube. Finally gave up. And the &fmt=18 thing worked for a while, then it stopped working too.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Zem||6/12/09 12:11 AM|
Actually, clicking just to the right edge of the stopped load bar works. I always have to do it twice in an 8-minute video, but it works and seems to me to be the only solution.

Still having problems loading YouTube videos. HD or HQ, doesn't matter. I'm on Time Warner Cable/Road Runner. They threatened to charge by the GB a couple of months ago here. I hope this YouTube slowdown isn't the fallout from the TW/RR GB Plan being slammed hard by our U.S. State Senator annd TW/RR backing away from implementing that plan..
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Ubuntu-Linux-OS||6/14/09 9:18 PM|
You are having a problem with throttling. You have 3 options. Change your ISP to Cogeco, or Change your OS to Linux, or download VLC player (With VLC player you simply get the url of the youtube vid,( paste it under file -> network, click play and u are in business (keeps a personalized playlist))

i use opera for a browser and i can only watch SOME short videos others just wont load and...
PEOPLE!!! ITS NOT YOUTUBE THATS DOING THIS!!!!!!!
on my friends computer videos play perfectly fine and i just had internet installed...
1 of my other friends knows alot about computers but still dosent know the awnser to the problem....
what i would suggest:
1st make sure that your operating system is up to speed with flash player and your browser and make sure that your mamory has enough room for it all and finally if the problem persists then just go to a specailist

I trust that youtube is losing thousands of hourly hits, based on the fact that its not currently a usable site. Don't have time or patience to wait for a video to load. Start, Stop, Start, Stop................................... WHY BOTHER!!!
Plus why are these posts in Descending order vs. Ascending. Newest post should be on top.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||wailinailinn||6/17/09 11:06 PM|
I can no longer watch you tube videos when logged in.
From what I can tell this issue occured when youtube added their lovely little "realtime sharing toolbar" to the bottom...which you can't turn off or get rid of. If i'm logged in I have the toolbar and videos never load or play...the playbar is absent and never loads. Period. I get an little error message at bottom of page that reads as follows:
Error: expected ']'
URL: the url of the video I'm trying to watch.
I've tried firefox and IE7, IE8, two different household computers as well as various types of internet connections and speeds. I've checked and triple checked that adobe, java, etc are all up to date. I've run virus/malware scans...none of this fixes it.
But if I do not log in to you tube, I can watch videos fine. Funny that...their little "toolbar" tracking device isn't there! Even if this toolbar is not the cause of the problem I would like the option to get rid of it. Just like other stupid frivolous toolbars I don't want it. I don't need it, and I should be able to get rid of it..."turning it off" is not the solution I want either.
I am disappointed that given the level of people reporting similar issues that youtube does not have this listed as a known issue they are working on nor is there any easy way to contact anyone at youtube about this issue.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||scottieno001||6/23/09 4:08 PM|
Don't know if this will be of use to anyone, but I have the same issie and noticed the following differences in the embed string
Example embed string that does not work
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GiOuJbjSFy8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GiOuJbjSFy8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Vidios that did load for me had 'hl=en&fs=1&' in the value string rather than 'hl=en&fs=1'. I don't know what this is supposed to control, but the difference has been consistant
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Ooglegog||6/25/09 2:02 PM|
I'm having the same problem too.
Some videos will not start playing at all.
Some will start if I advance the slider a little, however, this will usually only buffer a small chunk.
If I move the slider past the end of that chunk, when the video stops again, another chunk is buffered.
The buffering itself, if it starts at all, seems to happen at the normal speed but it just stops prematurely.
Clicking the "HQ" button seems to work on videos that aren't working normally.
(On the few that I have tested since reading that suggestion.)
Come on YouTube ... Sort yourselves out!
PS: I've gone through checks on two machines, a range of web browsers, testing connectivity etcetera and the problem is most definitely at YouTube's end.
Questions: Are they even aware of the problem? This thread is almost a month old. Do they read it? There doesn't seem to be any input from them.
Is there any way to actually communicate with the great Google (YouTube) in the sky?

Hi All...I complained on this forum a couple of weeks ago about the "stuck and choking videos" problem...it was really, REALLY bad.....I came back to tell the new posters that the problem is gone for the most part for me...I'd say 95 % cured......(now that I said that it will prob start again for me lol).... but just posting to give people feedback that maybe youtube is working on it? youtube should let people know though...it would be considerate

There is a little arrow at the top right of the youtube screen. This opens the video in a seperate window. So far it's played everyone of the videos that have the "1 item remaining" error. Hope it works for you.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||DAZGINA||6/27/09 9:46 PM|
OK fear not my friends as i have the answer to solve this issue. for the last week i have worked endlessly to solve this irritating problem but i have found it and now youtube is running as fast as normal for me.
i have a sort of condition for sharing this infomation and that is once you follow these instructions and get your youtube back to full working order that you stop by my channel and subscribe, invite and leave a comment...i think that is fair considering the hours it took to identify this issue. ok my channel is (just type into youtube) DAZGINA......much appriciated all :)
ok to business.....i use internet explorer 8 and vista 32bit
weather some of you will want to admit to this or not i bet you are running some sort of torrent program for downloading torrents i.e. utorrent, bitorrent,up torrent, limewire ect ect and have also set your firewall to except these programs and have also fowarded ports for them.
ok due to the current legal issue going on right now with the powers that be trying to stop this kind of file-sharing these programs are being monitered and comprimised ( also may be invoving our ISP's ) this monitoring is somehow making our buffering i.e internet streaming glitchy.....this is what you need to do at least until this file-sharing legal matter is resolved:
1. uninstall all trace of your bittorrent and dna program ( from programs and also the file that is still left in C Drive )
2. undo all port forwarding that you have done for these programs.
3. go to firewall and delete the program in the exceptions tab.
if problem still persists you will need to reset your internet explorer to remove and add-ons or plug ins that your bittorrent may have had there.
Once all this is fully removed your youtube is back to super-fast speed and may i add so will your internet.
i am happy to share this info with you and glad to have solved this irritating issue for youtubers everywhere but please pass it on and be sure to tell them to visit my channel at youtube ( channel= DAZGINA ). i can also be contacted through my channel if you need more help with this i will be happy to help if i can. NOTE: i cannot be contacted through my e-mail only through my youtube channel
All my best to you all from Darren
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||disasterpastor45||6/27/09 10:46 PM|
I installed Bit Torrent to download a copy of Linux. Torrent doesn't start up with Windows for me. I don't really use Torrent. I am finding that my ISP is going out when I switch from one web site to another, and I have to wait 5 minutes for the modem to be functional again. But yeah, I download 16 MB of a 100 MB file at 10 Mbps then my ISP light goes out. But most of the problem with YT videos not loading or stopping in the middle somewhere because the downloading of bits has dissipated to nothing has nothing to do with losing my ISP signal according to my modem light.

Same here in Chiang Mai Thailand. But I noticed it started after Windows automatically updated the browser to version 8 2 days ago. Could there be the problem? By the way lots of other things go weird since this new browser is in place. It also stops Youtube very often - Windows need to close - and when opening again it restores to the last session. Then this morning nothing but "An erro occurred etc." Please help Youtube!

Has this been solved yet, it's actually getting worse! and some say it's interenet connection slow, well then how the hell did they load before eh? how did they load before? and I have a 3.6mps speed wich is slow to Americans proberly and France and that (and if you live in Britain and say you have a much bigger speed than 3.6mps then your a bloody lier) ever since googles taken over they change non - broken things without asking for feedback from the youtube users and don't give awnsers or replies as to why they change things, I feel as though google are saying
"right where changing this behind your back and what can you do to stop us? the old you tube people sold us you tube so it's ours now and there's nothing you can do to stop us fucking it up aaahhhhhhaaaaaahhh, we can delete the website if we want, and to annoy you even more we are just going to ignore your problems with the site and act like normal businessmen and just update everything to what we like!"
I feel like you tube is slowly dying, I also here some problem or fuss with the view count, and the new channels and several other things but this is nuts, this is the whole thing about youtube WATCHING THE VIDEOS ON HERE! and I have reason to believe the problem is with the new youtube player, but it was working before on this player aswell, so i'm baffled
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Toodles8899||7/26/09 12:50 PM|
It's obvious this is a You Tube issue not, user oriented. I am in the US and it started a little over a week ago and is getting progressively worse to the point the site is useless. Someone at Google needs to pay attention because they're losing viewers and uploaders in the droves.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||WylieGuy||7/26/09 8:43 PM|
I thought it was my MacBook Pro. I went through the process of rebooting. Then re-installing flash. I tried both Safari 4 and FireFox 3.5. I thought results were better with FireFox, but now I don't think so. I used the Flash uninstaller and then reinstalled. Got crappy results again. So I tried a clean guest account. Load times on everything were very fast (makes me think of doing a fresh account for myself) but when I try and play YouTube on Safari or FireFox... back to stop-start-stop-start. I've tested my download and update speeds and they are very good; nearly 15 down and nearly 5 up. I do need to try on my wife iMac and see if she gets the same results. Very annoying.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||jhs3044||8/12/09 9:40 PM|
I have read most of these comments and it seems no one from YouTube has bothered to offer a solution. Great tech support there -- actually worthless tech support. YouTube needs a good competitor to put it out of business. I have the same problem. About half the videos I try to load, don't. I get an error message that says something like, "There was an error. Please try again later." This problem only started about three days ago. YouTube has done nothing to fix it. YouTube has done nothing to respond to this problem. And it seems you cannot get in touch with any sort of tech support. We could write letters to the address they provide. But will they respond. I have my doubts. A couple of suggestions have been offered among us users:
1. Put &fmt=5 on the end of the writing in the address box.
2. Uninstall Flash 10 and reinstall Flash 9.
These might worth for some individuals.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Dunoj||10/31/09 2:34 PM|
The problem I have is that the video appears to be fully loaded. At some point it just randomly stops playing and setting it back and reloading doesn't help. I have never had this issue up until the last time YouTube did service. It's driving me crazy. I don't want to have to keep reloading a video while I'm in the middle of watching it. For the crying out loud YouTube, FIX IT!

When you are signed in it messes up. When you sign out it works fine. I found this from wailinnailinn on 6/17/09 solved it for me.
“I can no longer watch you tube videos when logged in.”
"From what I can tell this issue occured when

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Flat6Machinima||12/31/09 8:46 AM|
So far with me...I've had to remove several videos after they've finished processing, simply because all they do for at least an hour after processing is just sit there with "an error has occured, please try again later". If they do manage to get past the error, the quality is horrid, even in HQ setting! It started doing this a couple of days ago when the sound on one of my videos stopped completely, then started again a few seconds later, then after that came the massive string of errors.
Anyone else having this problem from the UK? Or is it a more global thing?
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ZenMasta||1/2/10 9:47 AM|
I have been experiencing this problem for several weeks. At first I thought it was my internet connection, but then when youtube would not load I would load different sites in other tabs and they were all working fine. And on top of that I would still stay connected to instant messenger etc.
This problem really sucks. half the time a video will not load, or it gets stuck loading forever. I have to refresh the page sometimes in order for it to work but that really is just hit or miss anyway. I can't find a consistent way to actually get it to work like normal...
The suggestion that you have too logout is just reidiculous! what if you want to post comments etc? If this is truly a working solution then youtube seriously needs to fix this crap.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||GHR0003||1/3/10 1:04 AM|
Tried almost all the suggestions to fix my problem -- youtube videos would play up to about 30% then stop completely. I tested it in Chrome (18.104.22.168), Firefox (3.5.6) and Internet Explorer 8, with the exact same result.
After downloading and installing the latest QuickTime (7.6.5), videos are playing fine so far. This is after updating Flash (both versions -- for IE and other browsers).

Same problem with LOTS of users..and the same dumb error mssg: "You either have java disabled or an older version of Flash..." This is ridiculous. So far as i know, Youtube has NOT come up with a solid fix or a work around. After 5 months of worsening quality and site integrity, this is starting to SUK OUT LOUD.
Youtubes poor customer support and ridiculous attempt at a "fix"..has only frustrated even more users.
They have rilly dropped the ball on this one.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||flpedaler||1/19/10 4:53 PM|
WOW, now I know I'm not crazy!
Same problem here for ME and one of my friends (I sent him the link to the video I uploaded)... http://www.youtube.com/user/fastlanetravel.com
The video just "spins" won't play... although occasionally if I fiddle with the slider I can get a little.
YET... I sent to the link to a bunch of other folks I know and they could all play it without issues. What is the problem??? I'm sooooo frustrated. I did all that folks have suggested too... with flash uninstall, reinstall, checking antivirus programs, etc. Can't find any issues. Can that the exact same video and embed the Animoto version into my web page and it plays just fine.
This tells me it is something to do with YouTube. It is obvious from all the postings here and NO replies or solutions, that they don't care. I mean, they don't even offer any kind of support. I HATE google sometimes because of that. :=(

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||1/19/10 6:11 PM|
FWIW, flpdedaler, I've been seeing similar stalling intermittently for several weeks now. It's possible it's an issue with my machine, since the machine is aging and I haven't taken time to diagnose everything under the sun lately. I also have other priorities at the moment that mean I don't have endless time to sort out such issues, especially when there seems to be little YouTube is willing or able to do about them, combined with the fact that most of these issues seem to be limited to YouTube, and there are other things I can do with my time online, with less frustration.
I'm only saying this now to confirm to you that, from what I've seen, and from what others are reporting here, it seems to be a fairly widespread issue. There are also at least some machines where Firefox will crash completely whenever one tries to play a YouTube video, at least when playing it directly from YouTube.
Do feel free to pursue a rational explanation for this with others here. It may be the only way that YouTube will eventually manage to repair the issue (or issues).
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Hendrixx||1/19/10 8:18 PM|
I have the Telus rocket internet stick... I can click any video, and itll load pretty slow, but fast enough the video will play, but then the red bar will just stop, and shoot to the end, and once the grey bar thats playing reaches the point the red line shot from it freezes and wont load past it. Im getting real fucking tired of every video being cut short. I thought it was my internet stick cutting out, but now I see its probably Youtube.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||roflcoptor11||1/19/10 10:58 PM|
I'm having the same problem too.
I really wish that some other video site would come up and compete with Youtube, then one of two things can finally happen:
- Youtube gets it's fucking act together and actually fixes stuff
- The new video site destroys Youtube simply because they actually communicate with it's community.

I'm getting a loading problem with a video. I know it's nothing I did because the other parts to the video worked fine. This video was part 4 of 5 for Raging Planet Blizzard and it just won't play but the progess bar moves. Please fix this YouTube. Here's the link to the vid:

I've had this issue for 3 days now and tried to clear cache, reboot, uninstall and install again flash player and nothing has solve it, tried in opera, chrome and IE and nothing works as far as You Tube, other videos sites work perfect.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Sarara||2/6/10 7:56 PM|
I am having exactly the same problem - I am not with Rogers (Telus, actually) - so I don't think that's the issue
I thought it had something to do with Google. I too have tried everything.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||TheGermanFox||2/6/10 8:57 PM|
Same thing here in Pittsburgh. Videos load and play as usual for a minute, maybe two if I'm lucky, and then the video freezes while the audio still plays. On both IE and Firefox.

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||m6arate||2/23/10 3:49 PM|
same problem. Obviously I am not alone. Actually, I have this problem with many other websites, not just YouTube. I would guess it is a flash player problem. Something with the way it talks to servers while downloading. I don't have a real technical background, so I can only guess.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Ooglegog||2/27/10 12:00 PM|
I have found that you can sometimes use a proxy to watch videos that take forever to load in the normal manner.
Hidemyass.com seems to work ok.
Try to watch a video in the normal manner and it looks like it's going to take a while to load.
Pause it while you go and make a cup of tea.
Come back and see that this five minute video looks like it has about another hour to buffer.
Open a new tab.
Go back to tab with the video still buffering.
Copy the url.
Paste url into Hidemyass.com
Phone your mate for a bit of a chat.
Have another cup of tea.
Notice that the video in original tab has still not buffered.
Scratch head and wonder what the f..k is going on with that?
If anyone can give any explanation as to how that works and why I'd love to hear it.
It definitely shows that there is nothing wrong with either your browser, browser cache, flash plugin, pc, operating system, router, connection, time of day and what colour socks you happen to be wearing or what the weather is doing outside as suggested all over this forum where other people are reporting this problem.

My videos I try to watch just like have a button crossed out instead of a play button on the movie. Can this be fixed?

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||carlosian2||4/2/10 8:15 AM|
Here is why something is definitely wrong on the youtube end:
Last April I posted a video performance and sent out a link to about 15,000 people on my news letter. Within 2 weeks that video was well over 200,000 hits.
I just posted another performance and sent the link to what is now over 30,000 news letter subscribers as well as over 10,000 facebook fans (many more people).
It has a very high rating and is very high on the favorites to hits ratio. The comments are awesome... people are even posting it on their facebook. (I know my fans would watch this video to the end).
Yet after 2 weeks, only 5,000 hits!!! This should be 15,000 to 20,000 at the very least.
Several people (myself included) have experienced that it halts so much that it is too frustrating to watch. This, I'm sure leads to people giving up before the hit registers in the system. (A HUGE lost opportunity for me).
This makes me not want to upload any more performances until something is fixed. After reading this thread, I am SURE this is a youtube issue....absolutely positive. We need to get the word out.

From the link below, here's your most likely culprit:
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||4/2/10 5:15 PM|
I'm leaving the previous post up only because it may still be true for some users. Apparently though, for IE7 and several early version ot Safari on the Mac, this crashing is a common thing and may not be related to anything other than Google's hasty programming decisions to take this new layout and its players live even though they could barely get anyone to beta test it adequately.
If you can upgrade to IE8, or switch to another browser (Firefox, Opera, etc) you may find a fix that way.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Mercedes_1||4/5/10 1:27 AM|
IOff topic..but still imperative!~..and somewhat related..Besides the fact that videos are freezing..
You know whats really bugging me...with the newest layout...you CAN'T close off thumbnails!!...on ur main home page...its annoying az h*ll...
I want to be able to close off my thumbnails...some of them stay there after viewing them anyways..and some u just don't feel like watching right then,...It was convenient to be able to close them OFF!..
Please FIX that!!~
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Adamsrb2||4/5/10 8:09 AM|
I'm on Chrome...
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||4/5/10 8:43 AM|
@Mercedes - The inability to "X" out thumbnails as you put it, if I'm guessing correctly, is a bug with Subscriptions that has been here for weeks before this reworking of the layout.
It's listed under Current Site issues http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs and in a dedicated post in the forum ( http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=5169c02b7fd4488c&hl=en )
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Mercedes_1||4/5/10 2:45 PM|
I found a work around...which is brilliant!....But i wonder if i interferes with other features..This is the work around
http://www.youtube.com/index_ajax? ---using this as ur home page..If u use this is a preset button..like u can on yahoo...is all good..
thanks for responses!~

Issue still here Youtube, fix it!
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||maco10810||5/8/10 1:22 PM|
OK its not me - 3rd reinstall of internet explorer - 4th system restore - 2nd flash player reinstall - solution .....sorry nothing here .... hopefully they will sort it out soon, its friggn annoying.
When mobile phones came out I dumped my watch, when youtube came out I dumped my TV ................so when youtube is not working......I get a lil upset, only because I enjoy it so much.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||mustsilm||5/11/10 12:41 PM|
I have had the same problem half a day now, interestingly youtube was working fine before and i was listening one of my playlists. I tried to resolve the problem by clear cache and cookies. It "kind of" worked, but now when i click on a video it takes about 25-30 seconds when it starts playing while it is still loading the red bar/line. Really odd.
My internet connection is working fine. Really odd, i think its something to do with the new system what YouTube has created.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||KemcoBoii||5/13/10 5:25 AM|
Same damn thing here..Thought, this happends everywhere where flash player is used for me.
Flash games, flash videos at any site, this happends. I used Opera, but switched to IE because of this.. but it didn't help.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||JayLay||5/20/10 1:48 AM|
I've skimmed through some of the replies and see that most of the people with problems are from Canada. I'm in Montreal, Canada and I am having the same problem with videos not loading at all. My ISP is Bell.
However, if I connect to a proxy in the US, the videos load just fine. I'm not sure if it's a problem with YouTube blocking Canadian ips or if it's our ISPs doing something funky.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||5/20/10 6:43 AM|
For those in Canada, especially those customers of Rogers, there's a good chance you're having problems with the DNS servers there. Here's a workaround that may help... while it suggest using Google's public DNS servers, there are other public DNS servers if you prefer to use them http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/
The workaround is posted at http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=102d5e01b0deb99e&hl=en

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Dunoj||6/26/10 12:46 PM|
I have a problem where videos are either slow to load or will stop loading at a certain point. I had an issue previously where the vid would fully load and reach a certain point and would play from that point on when the vid was set to HQ. Ever since I updated to Safari 5 I seem to have the current problem. I'm going to try watching one of the same vids that is giving me a problem right now in a different browser.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||yamumsabattlefield||6/26/10 2:23 PM|
my problem was a video would load for 60 secs then stop and i would have to refresh the page then click 60 secs on the time line and the video would load from that point on for another few seconds before i would have to refresh the WHOLE page again...i tried uninstalling my flash player then reinstalling the latest version of flash player and it did shit all after a while of clicking round stuff on the screen i found that if i lowered the picture quality 720p HD down to 240p the whole video would then load.
HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE =)
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||Clayborne||7/9/10 4:28 PM|
This is not Youtube's fault. You guys have either virus or malware on your computer.. You should download an anti malware software, and deep scan your com. I used Emsisoft Anti-malware 5.0, (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/antimalware/) Took about 4 hours to scan my pc, but problem solved.. As i mentioned, it could be caused by a virus also. So use your anti-virus software yo scan your registry.. Good luck. Ps. Go in safe-mode when running the anti-malware, or disconnect your anti virus software, and internet connection.. :). I've also heard that Ccleaner can do the job, but it did'nt work for me..

YOUTUBE NEEDS TO FIX THIS SHIT. same problem here.
SOMEONE CALL MEL GIBSON AND TELL HIM TO FUSS OUT YOUTUBE. >.<
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||7/15/10 9:15 AM|
Try right clicking on the video you're having problems with... short of fixing the entire internet, there's only so much YouTube can do on their end. Many times these are cases of net congestion or other problems, most of them temporary, and many of them worse at peak times.
The dropdown menu you should see after you right-click any video should at least give you some tools to help determine immediately what the problem might be.
"Take speed test" and "Show video info" are the items that will be the most useful in diagnosing and possibly solving playback issues on your end. They'll also give you additional information if you feel the playback problem is something in need of reporting to YouTube here or by mail.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||trails456||7/16/10 9:19 PM|
tried that and it goes in to a loop and only plays like five videos
just had itok my computer maintenance people do a major clean up and scan

The problems are similar to what I experiences while testing html5 mode a few months ago. I wonder if YouTube have made html5 the default?

|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||NG231||8/4/10 4:54 AM|
VietNam, HoChiMinh city, same problem, fortunately, one video still work, while every other video don't :P, anyone know how to fix it, i used speed test and it show that my video speed is 0.5, while every thing else are fine, youtube isn't, just what happened? :P
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||MikezNeware||8/5/10 12:06 AM|
Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh city, some videos would load extremely fast (like 100+/kbps) and then some cideos would just stop at 30 seconds but i think i have a theory. Youtube is all over the world, with different connections for different countries. So certain countries maybe are under maintenance for upgrading or so. While other countries aren't, hop this theory is useful whatsoever.
|Re: Videos either won't load, or will start loading and stop||ebbixx||8/5/10 6:59 AM|
@MikezNeware - You're probably correct. Google (parent of YouTube) maintains server farms all over the world and at least in the past, videos, especially popular, high demand videos, were propagated to many different locations, so a problem viewing videos in one location might no be seen in another.
Also, less popular videos may only be hosted at far distant sites, adding to lag and slowness, especially if there are other bottlenecks. Video still calls for much more bandwidth than anything except maybe massive torrenting (and considering how torrenting works, torrenting is probably much simpler and definitely not affected as directly by things like net congestion).
So often people will say, "But everything else is working fine!" when that really doesn't mean much. Most other things can load fine over long distances and large numbers of hops and you might never notice there were dropped packets or other problems.
That just isn't the case with streaming video, though it is one reason allowing things to fully buffer can improve playback, since once fully buffered, there is actually a temporary copy of the entire video sitting on your machine, and your processor is no longer splitting its capacity between streaming to rest of the video, decoding what it has already downloaded, and playing the video itself.
