|Huge drop in rankings - could it be related to increased visits?||Richard Chambers||3/7/13 2:35 AM|
Hi - I appreciate that this seems quite counter-intuitive, but last week my company sent out an email that was a compilation of news items from the site's "news" section (with links to the site), which doubled the usual number of daily site visits.
This week (from Monday), I noticed a massive drop in our ranking: on average about ten pages!
Could the number of site visits have any effect on our search ranking? Our Pagerank has stayed the same, there are no malware warnings and AFAIK there have been no other changes or additions to the site.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I've read the FAQs and searched the help center.

No, your rankings won't decrease because you had more visitors. (Unless your server crashed for hours on end because of the extra visitors.)
The one thing had nothing to do with the other.
