|Website Hijacked By SEO Specialist||n/a n/a||12/18/12 4:01 PM|
So after a two month stint with a SEO Specialist I found on craigslist, I've basically been hijacked and locked out of my website(wordpress). I can manage that. But he set up my Google Webmasters Tool information and (I believe) is the primary Owner(done via meta tag). I went into the account (as I'm a co-owner) but I don't have permission to "unverify" him, so he's still there. I eventually want him to not be acknowledged as any kind of owner of my business or website.
Also, even if I do find a means of removing him, would the work that he's done (handling sitemaps, robots, excedra) vanish? would I no longer be indexed by Google? could he undo that somehow? Thanks in advance.

Change all passwords to the site immediately. Contact your host and ask them to help get you into the site. You will have to delete that meta tage and put in a brand new one. Remove him on analytics and any other accounts you have as well.

I changed my password to the host, still not able to get into the main site *yet* ... my host gave me some instructions and things to do along with the WordPress people.
but will my site no longer be indexed after he's gone? I also, don't know how to remove him from WebMasters Tools.

I believe that removing the meta tag would also delete his ability to claim ownership.

Would my site suffer due to him suddenly vanishing though? like the robots.txt, sitemaps and whatnot? Removing him wouldn't de-index me would it?

The only way he could deindex you is to add no index tags to your site or to do it via the robots.txt fiile on your site.
If you've changed the passwords on the site - you should be fine.
do you have access to the hosting? if so it's easy enough to get the password for the wordpress install via the mysql database. Though it may seem hard if you don't know what you're doing.
Happy to help out if that's what you need.

Go to your hosting and remove the metatag.
In your own w/m account verify your site.
You wont be de-indexed for that

Disconnecting him from your website will have no negative effect. If he makes changes before you do so may.
Once you have him booted out you should probably do a thorough check on your system to see if he did anything bad.
Also, don't forget FTP access or anything else he may set up in your hosting panel while he can.
