Checked my webmaster's panel,
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 6:04 PM Oh, and I'm on DreamHost Shared Hosting. I've seen other folks here note their hosting companies if that helps. I've never had this happen, I follow the same guidelines. Seems like lots of folks in same boat. Please do send commentary.

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated zihara 4/16/12 7:05 PM If you'd said hostgator or iPowerweb or GoDaddy that would be one thing but Dreamhost somehow stays above that gelatinous mass of crap swirling in the bottom of the hosting barrel. But when I took a look at the index page on this one... well... can y

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 8:10 PM Well, my client gave me that testimonial, and I seriously doubt she went looking for another website to copy from. Totally coincidental. And does not explain ranking well since 2007 and suddenly dropping on Sunday night to zero traffic from Google.

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 8:15 PM My clients are small business owners. They are not looking to WOW anyone. They are looking for simple, low cost sites that are user friendly. I am not an artist. I am an engineer. I was hoping for less mockery and more actual recommendations when pos

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 8:37 PM This is an excellent observation - and I have indeed seen this trend in my traffic analysis, fewer and fewer keywords are being captured and tracked. I did not know the cause was people being logged into their Google accounts while searching. So Goo
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated webado 4/16/12 8:51 PM Has traffic in general gone down markedly or just keyword searches in Google?
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 8:58 PM Traffic has been "normal", 300-400 a day, until three weeks ago, when it dropped to 170 avg. It stayed that way for 3 weeks, and then last night (Sunday) it dropped to zero (from Google). Bing appears unaffected, but I don't get much traffic from Bin
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated webado 4/16/12 9:09 PM I'm asking about all traffic not just from Google. As I said you can no longer identify any hits through Google from visitors signed into their Google accounts. They are hits with no referrer.
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 9:11 PM My answer was for all traffic. Normal 300-400, past three weeks 170, now 50 a day.
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 9:14 PM Furthermore, a search for my business  name Aldebaran Web Design does not come up with my business. However my website does still appear to be in the index. Just not ranking for any words at all.

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 9:49 PM Ok, I will modify my title tag. It did used to be shorter. The duplication issue I discovered and fixed by adding no follow to a bunch of lines that were to help people figure out font size. The site should have 250 or so pages. I discovered that ab
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 9:55 PM thericker: How about this: <title>Seattle Web Design | Small Business Website Design | Aldebaran Web Design Seattle WA</title> Think that will pass?
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 10:00 PM And I've added <meta name="robots" content="nofollow" /> on the page that I believe is generating all the false pages which is this one: http://aldebaranwebdesign.com/resources-contentfonts.php J
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 10:03 PM Some of the "pages" are actually blog articles with /feed and /trackback (wordpress blog) I had these forbidden in my robots.txt
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Grandmaster Flash 4/16/12 10:07 PM I believe it will help. Keep experimenting until you find a happy medium.  There may be other areas for opportunity as well.
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Grandmaster Flash 4/16/12 10:08 PM Gotcha!  Looks like googlebot got in there before the pages were blocked with robots since there are so many indexed.
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/16/12 10:18 PM Perhaps, I was looking into this earlier today in the Google Webmaster area to see what pages it couldn't find, and half were feed and trackback pages, so I might not have had it correctly syntaxed for last crawl. Now I have: User-agent: * Disallow
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated webado 4/17/12 4:27 AM You can get tag, category, archive, author pages to have a robots "noindex, follow" meta tag instead of blocking them in robots.txt (which will not remove them from the index). You do that by using the All in One SEO Pack plugin (or whichever similar
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/17/12 8:14 AM I do have the All In One SEO Pack, and have noindex checked for Categories, Archives, Tags - however, there is no nofollow for trackback, comments or feed.
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/17/12 9:21 AM I believe I have all of the blog pages that shouldn't be indexed taken care of by robots.txt and by manually removing them from index. Anyone get a huge number of links from http://updowner.com?  What is this company? J

Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated zihara 4/17/12 9:15 PM For the moment it seems someone inside Google misplaced a special character in a script and many, many people using shared IP addresses took a serious hit. Correcting that seems to have put everyone back where they were in the SERPs. Hopefully, those
Re: Have fallen out of all google rankings - still in index - feedback appreciated Aldebaran 4/18/12 9:12 AM I heard it had something to do with my domain being marked as "parked".
