| Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/18/09 6:33 PM | Does anyone happen to know what's the maximum length of a voice mail one can leave? |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | mnemmet | 3/18/09 7:41 PM | 3 minutes. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | sunk818 | 3/29/09 7:09 PM | I was thinking you could leave yourself a message if you want to transcribe something for yourself. Its a shame the maximum length is 3 minutes. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/29/09 7:12 PM | Yeah but it won't let me call my own number using GV. You have to use another phone to call your GV number. Unless there's a hack that I am unaware of. Of course you can use one GV account to call another GV account but I can't make a second GV accou |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | buzzdar | 3/29/09 7:42 PM | Maybe that will be come a premium feature for longer voicemails. for the typical person 3 mins will be more than enough. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/29/09 7:44 PM | The 3 minute limit doesn't bother me as much as the inability to call my own number from GV :) |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | bishop | 3/30/09 7:20 AM | duklaa: I don't understand you - why can't you call your own GV number? I have done it several times and it works perfectly. May be you are calling from your cell phone and it takes you directly to your voicemail system? If that is the case and you d |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/30/09 8:34 AM | I want to call my google voice number using google voice. It doesn't work. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | Hillsborough | 3/30/09 9:44 AM | That makes no sense to me. Why would you want to call your GV number using GV? Why not use your cell or a land line? |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/30/09 9:46 AM | Because I don't have a cell or a land line :) GV is my only number. It forwards to Gizmo which I pick up using either my computers or my ATA. (Ok, technically I have a prepaid cell phone for emergencies but it costs me 25 cents/min to make calls from |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | Hillsborough | 3/30/09 10:23 AM | If you don't have another phone then you can't call yourself. Google Voice is designed to use with your other phones, it is not intended to replace all of your phones or be your single phone source. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/30/09 10:30 AM | Maybe it wasn't intended to be so. But that doesn't mean people shouldn't and wouldn't use it as such :) (The Internet wasn't intended to be used for buying & selling things when it was invented ;)) So I was just voicing how I have been (and will be) |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | Hillsborough | 3/30/09 10:43 AM | Have you tried calling it from another free VOIP service? I have used DukaDial before although it is gone now. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/30/09 10:46 AM | If you know another free VOIP service, let me know. I am not aware of any that are free for anything other than 800 numbers. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | buzzdar | 3/30/09 10:55 AM | magic jack 19.95 per year all you have to have is a computer and internet for it to work and a phone to plug into the jack. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 3/30/09 10:59 AM | It's not worth it for me to spend $19.95 just to be able to call my GV. Is there anything that allows free (as in beer) outgoing calls to US numbers? |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | giqcass | 7/19/09 2:15 PM | I haven't tried any of these and I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish by calling yourself but one of the following might help. You should be able to use one google voice number to call a second. Set up one of those free call forwarding se |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | ethitter | 7/19/09 2:24 PM | @duklaa, Why not set up a free Gizmo5 account, add it as a phone on your account, and then initiate outgoing calls through it from the GV website? As long as you have speakers and a microphone, you can use your computer for phone calls. |
| Re: Maximum length of voicemail | duklaa | 7/20/09 4:13 AM | @ethitter: I already have Gizmo. But that's not the point of my questions because GV website still won't let me call myself. @giqcass: Yes, you can call one GV number from another. However, GV is not open to the public and I have only one GV number. |
