|How to import a picture scanned from printer||hughesjnk||5/11/10 9:00 PM|
I am able to scan in a picture from my Dell AIO printer -- then, in the import window with 'My Pictures' file/folder auto filled in IMPORT TO box, I have filled in FOLDER TITLE box (tried a new folder name, an existing folder name & a suggested folder name) but the IMPORT ALL button still remains inactive/gray. What am I doing wrong?

So you're in Picasa... You're importing from the scanner.
Picasa has fired up the scanner driver window...
You've scanned a photo (or multiple photos).
You see the photos in Picasa's import tray.
You close the scanner driver window.
Now just Picasa's import window is showing...
As soon as you give a "good" folder name, the "Import Selected" and "Import All" buttons should be enabled.
You've tried the right stuff, far as I can see (new folder name)
You do see one or more scanned photo thumbnails in the import tray on that screen, right?

Thanks Don. I'm going to work on those instructions. I think I'm doing all that correctly but it's not enabling -- I haven't given up but I did find another way to scan and import into Picasa from my printer by using the printer scan button and directing it to a Picasa folder. P.S. I do see the photo thumbnails on the screen but --- I'm sure it's some little thing I'm missing. Thanks again.

Hi Hughesjnk, even though the screen is an "import" screen, the photos are not actually going "into" Picasa. Picasa does not store photos. If you can scan pictures and save them to your computer, Picasa will be able to show you those pictures if the folder where you saved them is being "scanned" by Picasa. Look under the menu Tools then Folder Manager. More at the link below.
The problem you're having may be in the step where "You close the scanner driver window." If you don't close the window, the import process won't finish.
