I found this link that works: http://jlvillaraza.spaces.
While that talks about sync relationships with the PC, the same technique seems to work for Google Sync as well. I did not need to delete my sync relationship. Here are the steps I followed:
* Go to server setup and go through all the steps until you get to the "sync content"
* Uncheck all
* finish all the steps until you get to the main ActiveSync page and hit "Sync" there -- it will obviously not do much
* go back to servers setting and check "Contacts" ONLY at this time and again go through and hit "Sync" -- it will sync all your contacts again
* now go to server settings again and check "Calendar" this time and leave the previously checked "Contacts" ON. Sync again.
At this point all the syncs should go through and the error will not show up anymore. If it does, then just repeat the above steps.
Hope this helps -- it worked for me on Windows Mobile 6 and HTC Fuze phone.

I get the same error message with my phone, everything seems to be in synch though. Very strange.
Tried your solution and noticed that even when I have nothing selected, I get the error message.
Then I select just contacts, no error message! As soon as I enable calendar it starts to whine again.
Very weird this, but on the other hand. as far as I can tell it's working just fine so no complains :)

I actually solved my problem, woho!
I realized that I had some old categories or to be exact everything synced from my old Palm had the category "Calendar*".
Well, I just remove it in Outlook I thought, but it was nowhere to be found. Figured that might be the problem, here is what I did:
1. Disabling calendar sync (removed all successfully synchronized events, very convenient)
2. Tap week by week since 2004 removing all the weird categories, yes manually since the calendar in WinMo <random-swear>
3. Enable calendar sync.

After installing GoogleSync on my HTC TouchPro, it worked for a few days, then silently stopped working. "Attention Required" with code: 0x80004005.
I only use it to sync Contacts and Calendar, with my Google Apps account.
So I came here, and tried Sibin's method.
It failed when no sync items were checked. Does not show successful sync. Tried a few times...
Then I carried on with Sibin's method anyway, checked Calendar first. It worked!
Then checked Contacts. Sync worked too!
So everything is fine now, don't know when it will silently break again.

This worked for me. I have been successfully syncing with calendar and contacts for several months... yesterday I noticed several items not showing up on my mobile 6 device. I went into active sync, unselected bothe calendar and contacts. It still indicated an error. I then selected calendar and sync'd. This cleared the error. Then I selected contacts and viola, all up to date and syncing again. I guess with the combination of google's eternal status of 'beta' for all it's applications and the intrinsic crap-ness of Windows mobile this sort of wonky work-around will continue to be the way things go...

Sibin's method fixed me too! (HTC Mogul)

I just wanted to say that if you do not have the Outlook it will not open you have to make it active. I did this when i had the same issues and this solution worked well when I basically added my verizon account to the outlook and when I did that I went back hit sync. Volia. Issues gone.

Thanks I found out that I had to keep unchecked my email and tasks for it to work.

After days of trying this worked! Thank you!!

Try to Sync items one by one at each Sync.
If you want to sync Google calendar with your mobile device, when you see the screen in your mobile to tick items, just check Calendar, it works for me.

Thank you, Sibin!!! I have an HTC Ozone which was working fine and syncing with everything I needed. When I downloaded a recommended update for the Mobile Windows software, evertthing got wiped out and nothing would sync. I eventually was able to reestablish a sync with my gmail account but nothing else and I got the same error message when i tried to sync. I went to two different Verizon stores and spoke to different "Tech Specialists" who were at a complete loss. One told me that Google was having a problem and it would be resolved in a couple of weeks. I spoke to a support person at Verizon Wireless on the phone for over 30 minutes, also without any help. I finally found Sibin's post on this site and tried it. VOILA!!! It worked. I first reestablished all of my contacts and then my calendar. When I tried restoring checks to all of the categories, the problem reemerged. I now have found that if I check only e-mail, calendar and contacts and leave tasks unchecked, it works fine. Since I never use tasks anyway, that's fine with me.

|Re: support code: 0x80004005||Osky||4/14/10 2:46 AM|
@c2angles, Syncing Tasks is not (yet?) supported. you'll have to live without.
See step 10 in the reference:

That works for me. It great!!!! My mobile phone is HTC p4550 with Windows Mobile 6.5. Thanks very much for your post. I've tried the full day but not address it.

I had the same error, and realized that I had enabled Tasks, which as Oskyldig pointed out, isn't supported.
I turned off tasks and it works fine now.

|Re: support code: 0x80004005||amorosa||1/8/11 8:30 PM|
OMG... you guys are great! I had worked it this way with Palm support for Treo Pro. Was fixed. And at some point I must have clicked on Tasks. I got the error again... Just went back and UN-CHECHED Tasks... and sure enough, it started synchronizing again with no problem an no error.
