Updates caused several HTC Droid Incredible issues concerning all Google & Android functions Sd Low space & 500mb+ left
Android & Google issues...
I recently had my HTC Droid Incredible update itself a ridiculous amount of times. There's so many issues it's hard to keep up with all the BS! Now my battery barely lasts 1-2 hrs & I have advanced task killer, Low space when there is plenty available internal phone memory & SD Card, I transferred all I could to my SD Card, even did the usual hard & soft resets which is Verizon Tech supports answer for everything take out the battery & it'll be fine, I've done several factory resets losing my info & pics because my phone won't backup anything then when it did; For ex: some things came back...like my contacts in ranges of 12-20 of the same contact meanwhile the others were permanently erased, cursor jumps around as I'm in the middle of typing & I have to guess where it is to start typing again then try to position it where I left off, my Google Talk quit working...black screen for 2 secs then nothing, can't sync anything, tried erasing accounts & re-adding them but that didn't work, Verizon Tech support has been useless so far! Text messages won't open & calls either won't go thru or show up as missed unless a v-mail is left. So many problems & much more hassles since the upgrades! Basically, I'm having all the problems other people are having including a few new ones of my own. My phone is not rooted. I still have low space, I've cleared the cached...all I can do & erased apps. Even after the upgrades...I checked for virus' & there's no virus' found. *Sarcastically speaking* My phone has a mind of its own & it was kind enough to erase all my contacts, calendar events & every picture I had old & new of my 4 yr old daughter (Sd Card & Phone Storage too) all on its own. It would not let me put in my backed up contacts from gmail. My text to talk doesn't work at all now whereas before it at least worked 25% of the time. Too many problems to keep listing...I just want to know is it my phone, the recent 5+ updates I received in the past week, Google, Verizon, Android or just a P.O.S. Can these problems be fixed? Please someone help. This is awful. It's also the only connection I have to the internet! I appreciate any & all help. THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE!

Wow!!! You totally described exact same issues I am having only on my droid 2 phone:((( I have not downloaded anything extra on my phone, have not had any unusual updates etc so I 'd say verizon is definitely doing something not "kosher" that we are not aware of. I am getting used to my screens switching and jumping from one place to another but the texting part is driving me nuts!!!! As if the ghost itself is trying to play a trick here.....the cursor is moving on its own, stops, resets, etc WTF?!?!?!?!
Oh man, I am just waiting for any of my important docs, pics to disappear god forbid, they'll hear from me on the freaking news!!!!!

I am having some of the same problems: installed updates, and have since seen sketchy behavior on the phone, the low memory error despite PLENTY of internal and SD space, all culminating in tonight having the Talk app fail to launch and my gmail inbox fail to update (though I can see new messages when I view "All Mail"; they are even labeled Inbox, but don't show up in the inbox).
I have power-cycled the phone several times, and have tried removing the Talk app from my home screen and re-adding it, but it still fails to launch and my inbox won't sync. Any explanation or help with these issues ASAP would be much appreciated.

Ok try this...I had 2 Facebook apps one was normal & the other came with my phone...Facebook for HTC Sense. On the regular Facebook...I cleared the cached & I cleared the data; as of right now it's working better but I had to redo the Facebook BS. Try it & see. It helped a couple of my issues not all but a couple & I can use my Google talk again.

If you're having problems after your HTC Incredible installed a system update, please reach out to HTC or your mobile service provider for assistance -- they are the organizations who tailor Android for your phone and deploying it to you.

Wish I had a solution for any of this as well... I am having nearly every issue you described, Shortnic! Just realized today that besides the low memory error message that seems to be burned onto my notifications screen at this point... I am not getting my gmail, voice message notifications, or text messages! Awesome! I have deleted apps off, cleared data, hard and soft restarts. I can occasionally get the low memory error to go away, but it comes back within a few hours and I am stuck again. I also get a message that there is a new system update nearly everytime I reboot my phone, but when I click to allow the install, it doesn't seem to complete, yet my phone always shows my "system is up to date". I seriously loved my phone and had few to no issues until I got the 2.3 update, now I am lost as to what to do because everything I do that is supposed to fix it doesn't; or only does for a short period of time. So if anyone finds the magic bullet to resolve all of this (aside for getting a new phone), let me know too!!

A Google employee tried to respond by saying to get a hold of Verizon or HTC...don't these people think that's the first place we look to for help? I've hone to Verizon multiple times & have contacted HTC customer service with all the same answers. They don't know & that's the actual answers I've gotten or that my phone is discontinued & I'll have to get a new one since there's nothing they (Verizon or HTC) can do.

Clearing the cache and data on Facebook worked perfectly! Took the program from a whopping 35gb to 5 gb with no issues.

Everyone seems to have the same problems that I do with my HTC Incredible. Since the update my phone has reset itself several times a day. My wife has the same phone as well as a few co-workers, they have the same problems as well. I spoke with Verizon, they had me go through the usual " take the battery out and update roaming". I laughed when they said that no one else had mentioned having any of these issues. And quickly blamed Google for the update problem. I don't care who is to blame, I just want my phone to work like it did before.

Glad I found this posting. I'm having the same issues. They actually went away for about 3 weeks, but started up again yesterday, so I'm sure it's software related. The phone is unusable right now.

I initially tried to download the update but got the same memory BS as well as no update when I cleaned things up. I stopped in to a Verizon kiosk and the guy advised me NOT to attempt to download gingerbread because it will trash the phone. He has the same phone and refuses to upgrade the software. After reading all the trouble everyone is having, I simply hit "install later" whenever the message pops up. And I have no problems. Sounds like the update will turn this phone into a POS. Might make sense to wait till all the dust settles to see if they truly have a future fix at a later date.

Follow-up from my 1/6 posting. My phone suddenly started working again last night. Weird problem.
Both times this happened I had my phone in my jacket pocket for an extended period of time and it rang. I reached into the jacket pocket to answer the call, but clicked one of the buttons or hit the screen because the phone was silenced. When I attempted to call back it was gone.
Any chance this could be an overheating problem?

My mom, brother and I all have this phone and I'm the only one who can't get the update. They both have it and there's nothing wrong with their phones. When the system update comes up, I click install update and it doesn't do anything at all. I have no low memory problems, so I have no clue what the problem is. Any help?

UNINSTALL FACEBOOK AND CLEAR ALL DATA FROM IT. then use facebookfor htc sense app. my phone magically started working again. i had all the same issues. the phone immediatley synced and works correctly now. ITS FACEBOOKS FAULT!!!
|Shortnic||1/27/12 7:58 AM|
It's not Facebooks fault...there's a glitch w the new update & Google has done some maintenance. XxannajpxX be glad u can't install it. It's just a matter of time before it goes haywire. As for overheating yes, my 1st 2 did. This is my 4th refurbished POS! So on top of the initial problems I have other refurbished ones like phone won't turn off, speaker blown, can't charge it because the charge port is broken inside. I'm just turning them back in over & over...I can't wait until my update is available & I'm trashing this phone & suggest anyone else that has issues to do the same. No one else seems to have the answers to our problems.

I have all of these exact same problems and I have come up with only one logical realization. We receive minimal assistance with these problems because none of these companies want to help you with our "old" (even though they are clearly not aged nearly enough to earn the title of old) phone, however they would love nothing more than to suggest that we should throw it in the trash and spend 300 bucks on a new one that eventually, will undoubtedly face the exact same issues. Fuck cell phone companies. They are in fact the best example of unethical and unreliable businesses that we encounter day to day, and unfortunately non of these blind companies have the stones or the brains to put a little money and some real effort into fixing this ugly image. So, if you want to fix your cell phone problems, it's very possible that you're going to have to stop using cell phones.

I have the incredible 1 and it always tells me I'm low on disk space when I know that I'm not. I have a 16 gb SD card so I transfer most my apps to it. It will constantly want to do updates on my phone and I've lost all my pictures and contacts from it. The best way to get rid of the low disk space error is to sign out of Facebook if you use that and download memory booster lite. It's the best task killer on the market. Don't use multiple ones it can screw up your phone. Also go to your apps from the settings menu and clear data from apps you use a lot. Don't worry you won't lose anything. I also recommend restarting your phone about once a week so it completely restarts the processors and that will free up the space it claims you don't have.
|Finch7777||2/6/12 2:33 AM|
And no its not Facebooks fault, it just uses a lot of space. Just sign out then sign back in. You don't need to uninstall it. The advanced task killers suck, seriously download the memory booster lite. It's free and works like a charm

I have heard numerous complaints on the HTC Incredible. Its a shame. The phone itself is cool, however too many users I have spoken to have had too many issues of simply loading a web page

Well shit..wish i knew before. Last week My phone was working fine as it always had..did the update...BAM now my phone luckily works good during the day..but every night it turns off and on repeatedly from about 2am to4am, waking me up n what not LOL. Its funny how Im eligible for an upgrade..just a few months before this contracts up with Verizon..I do not want to renew..so they make an update to make the phone go to shit or just go phoneless for a few months waiting to get out of jail.

i've had the same problem since the beginning of July -- damn phone is waking me up nightly screaming "droid" if the volume is up too high --- same times too-right away at 2am, followed by several other times...hope someone comes up with something cuz this is frustrating---not quite due for my "free" upgrade...c'mon Verizon!
|Nashvegas||7/16/12 5:42 AM|
Good to see your post because I've had the same problem that started with the most recent system update. My phone resets itself over and over between 2-3 am CST every night and wakes me up which is a problem since it's my alarm clock. I am hesitant to upgrade because as soon as I do I lose my unlimited data plan (it does come to mind that this is happening on purpose to get me out of my old plan, but I'm not yelling conspiracy yet!).
I hope some other folks see this and give us an idea of how to fix it. I would say I'd like to roll back to a previous version before the update, but every time I don't update when it's available the Bluetooth signal is so weak it won't work more than a few feet away from any devices. This doesn't even get into the memory problems accompanying each update - I have to clear the cache, delete half my apps and wait for the update to appear on its own because it doesn't show up in the "search for updates" section of settings.

I am having the same type of problems too. My Incredible is far from incredible anymore. Ever since the June 20th software update my phone reboots itself several times a day, freezes up completely to where I have to remove the battery to get the phone to work, and this takes place more than 6 times a day, the battery drains in only a couple of hours, it doesn't always send texts out and drops calls constantly. Facebook really isn't the issue because I don't use Facebook. I feel like I have an expensive paperweight at this point.

i'm glad to know i am not the only one but at the same time this just might be one of the most frustrating things ive ever been threw with a phone so far. My phone wont last more than two hours and drops the calls constantly. The internet, witch was great before is a joke and i'm now going to have to drop 200 bucks on a new phone thanks Verizon.
