After gmail working fine on iPad for a week now username or password incorrect and not accepting correct info. Able to log in through google on iPad no problem.

I am having the same issue, just started this week. I have verified my password and userid, both are correct and had not been changed. I delete the account and readded to ipad, still get the same error.

Me too. It didn't work at first, then started working for a week or so, now f*cked again.
There's LOTS of threads about where people are having this problem on the iPhone/iPad. I'm wondering whether Google is deliberately messing people like us up in order to try to downgrade the IOS platform and compel everyone to buy Android devices (Fat chance!).

Verify that you are using full email address for login, not username only.
Verify that you can log into your Gmail account via a browser.
If the above does not apply, run Captcha to unlock

I am experiencing the same problem after the Gmail account on the iPad's Mail app worked for 4 months. Had not changed setting or password for the account.
My Gmail account in Mail is set up using Google ActiveSync.

Mine stopped working a week ago on my iPhone and couldn't get anything to work via the captcha resets or messing with SSL settings for apps for my domain. Changing my google account password then changing it back to what it was did it. Now everything works. Annoying!

Same here. Its been fine for months but stopped working 2 weeks ago. This only affects my iPhone, iPad and Apple Mail so far. Had to change my password to something that doesnt include numeral characters. It now works fine again.
