|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Michael Kellar||3/18/13 7:42 AM|
I don't know if this would be a cause at all, but I started getting this issue with FireFox 4.0.1 (School Environment) right after I submitted 3 pictures to be uploaded into one of my subfolders, and while it was still uploading the first file of the three files, I attempted to move a few of my files into another subfolder.
If I caused it, sorry, but maybe this may help if it was the cause.

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||frustratedgirl15||3/18/13 8:00 AM|
I am using the latest version of Google Chrome, Windows 7 on an Asus. I've been using GDrive for the past four years and have never encountered this problem.
"It says Error 502. Try again in 30 seconds." I've tried for the past half an hour and nothing.
I have check the Apps Status dashboard, and it says "service disruption" only on the GDrive.
I can, however, access it from my iPhone, but I need to work on my PC.

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||dvschaller||3/18/13 8:00 AM|
I have been getting the same error. Not sure if this is helpful...
I noticed if I open the links on google drive in a separate tab I can gain access to my documents.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Kelsey O'Connor||3/18/13 8:02 AM|
Any idea when it could be up again? Our newspaper runs through Google Drive and we need access asap. I had no problems an hour ago, but now it won't even load at all.

Off too Dropbox... Fail
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Tim Parkins||3/18/13 8:12 AM|
This is nuts. We put things in the Google cloud because we need our data anywhere, anytime.
If you cannot keep a service like this up, get rid of it. I, for one, will be moving to another solution. It is unacceptable that this not work.
Please fix quickly!

Yes I am having this same error. I have a paid account. Is there not an SLA with 99.9999% guaranteed up time?
This is ridiculous.

I have a paid account too, Whats really crazy is Google just charged my Credit card to renew my subscription like few minutes ago and that system is working perfectly but the service that the money is charged for is not.
I think that SLA is for the system that charges your credit card.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Steegle||3/18/13 8:31 AM|
Be aware that if you have bookmarks to the URLs of your Google Docs or spreadsheets, etc, they are still accessible (e.g. from the Google Drive folder on a Chromebook or from the links provided in the Google Drive folder on your computer).
Also if you have enabled Google Drive Offline you can still access your Google Docs there.

Thanks for the update, I have used gdocs/drive in a corporate environment for four years with a team of people sharing a mass of docs, this is the first time I have seen it crash, you whiners need to take a smoke break before you start looking for another solution... stuff happens, thanks for the support Google!

Fahadash, did you download intermediate copies into the appropriate app on your local HDD (e.g. MS PowerPoint)? At least that way you would have something to work with.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||DAS1951||3/18/13 9:37 AM|
Robert, have you been dpwnloading copies into the appropriate app on your local HDD (eg. Excel)?
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||DAS1951||3/18/13 9:40 AM|
Tim (et al), to assume everything always works is risky. Do you really think an outage could not occur elsewhere? I hope you keep your stuff backed up, or at least keep a copy in an equivaleny app on your local HDD.
"Please fix quickly!" Do you really think that Google will just let it fester until you come along urge speed?

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||brookestah||3/18/13 8:39 PM|
I'm sorry, but it is still not working for me.
I cannot access my Drive or GoogleDocs and urgently needed to do so this morning. I read your message above, saying that you would "provide an update by 3/18/13 12:10pm" but have not seen or heard anymore.
Can you give an update? It is now 8:38pm Pacific time and things are still not working.
When I click the "Drive" tab from within my email, I get "Error 500" which apparently is an "unknown error."
To make matters worse, all of the documents that I have "shared" with other users have disappeared. My shared users cannot access them either.
Could you please PLEASE help. I'm desperate here!!

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Jes Lynn||3/19/13 10:08 PM|
I can't edit my documents right now. On every single document, when I try to edit them, after I type a few words and sometimes just a few letters, an error pops up telling me it couldn't save and that I have to reload. Reloading of course means that the majority of what I typed wasn't saved. I tried changing two words in a document and it took at least ten tries to do so because I had to reload every few letters, and most of the letters weren't even changed. It amounted to typing one letter, reloading, typing another letter, reloading, etc until I finally got the words changed.
On a smaller document, I got the same issue, so it's not because one was 8000 words, the smaller document was about 100 words when I had this issue.
Additionally, accessing Drive on my android phone, when I type the letters come up incredibly slowly. I have to stop after a couple of words to wait for it to catch up. It is ridiculously frustrating that I can't edit my documents without extreme inconvenience. (The slowness issue is in google drive ONLY- I opened up gmail and made a new email, and typing was perfectly normal and responsive, I could type loads of gibberish with no delay at all.)

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||samgabbay||3/20/13 5:30 AM|
Is your android regulairly slow? It can be due to an app thats eating all your ram (speed) what android do you have and what version of android do you have (you can find that info in settings>about) and how mich memory do you have
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Michele Grant||3/20/13 5:53 AM|
Actually the Drive works fine on my Android - the issue is with my PC. Still not working. Still just freezes on the 'loading' message and it's been more than a day now. I've cleared the cache and cookies on my browser but that makes no difference. I have the same issue with my laptop.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Leslie Martin||3/20/13 6:01 AM|
I also cleared my cache and cookies and it is not helping.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||samgabbay||3/20/13 7:46 AM|
have you rebooted your pc? and what browser are you using? if its chrome make sure its up to date by clicking the = button then about google chrome and let it check for updates
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Jes Lynn||3/20/13 9:22 AM|
As I already said in my reply, no, my phone is not normally slow and I can open Gmail (or a text, or a website, or anything else EXCEPT Drive) and type normally. I can type this reply with no problem at all, but in Drive it is incredibly slow. Yes my phone is up to date and recently rebooted.
Two days ago, I could use Drive on my phone to edit my documents and there were no issues. When the website started having problems is when drive on my phone started running extremely slow.
|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||samgabbay||3/20/13 9:49 AM|
like i asked what phone do you have and what version of android are you running and what carrier because there might of been an update released

|Re: Google Drive - temporary service disruption||Nethan||3/30/13 1:52 AM|
You are intentionally disrupting the services related to drive. You are forcing entry to PAID Google Apps Services for the customers who are presently your free users. This is really a dirty attempt from your side. (Making the Google apps fully paid, also proves it) The common users are your real customers, since you get paid from your client by projecting the volume of free users on your side. It a real shame on Google for doing this.
Expecting a polite solution

I have tried several things with no success.

Hope it helps

Cindy, please define "excel google docs". It is either a Google Spreadsheet or an MS Excel file. And how are you trying to open the one giving you a problem?
What is the difference between it and the one acting ok? Are they the same file type?
