|I can't close, minimise, or resize Google Chrome via the sets of buttons on the top right corner. Help?||FlamingRabbit||1/8/09 6:43 PM|
I have recently downloaded Google Chrome and soon after I realised I couldn't close, minimise or resize it via the 3 buttons in the top right corner (the X, _, and box). Reinstalling it doesn't help either. The google chrome browser that people on YouTube use have a light blue bar at the top with 'Google' next to their buttons. Am i missing a setting? Please help me.2009-01-11
I have found the answer myself. All I did was go to Properties > Middle Tab > and ticked the first box with setting of "Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1)

When I first installed Chrome a over a month a go I didn't have this problem. Now I am having the same problem. However, I can make those 3 buttons work if I "right-click" on them and use the drop-down menu. But it sure would be nice to just left click the 3 buttons and have them do what they are supposed to do.

I too am having this problem. Which "Properties" menu did you use? I only have an options menu in Chrome and no place to check that setting. I am also using Windows Vista. Might that be an issue?

By Properties, I mean right click on your desktop icon and the option down the very bottom. Right click on your Google Chrome icon on your desktop.

But this kinda looks ugly . . . there is a similar post: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=51b2f526a5d9593e&hl=en

FlamingRabbit, it worked for me, too! As you said:
Right click on your Google Chrome icon on your desktop. Go to Properties > Middle Tab > and ticked the first box with setting of "Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1).
When I reverted back and unselected Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1), the X didn't work anymore.
That sounds like a bug to me!

Yea, it probably is a bug, and Google should fix it soon. But for the time being, its still OK :)

A little more on this...
My Wife's Vista ultimate machine was exhibiting the same behavior. It seemed to be related to the DPI size she was using. She uses 120 DPI for her fonts. When I set it back to 96 DPI and rebooted. The Close and Restore buttons on chrome worked normally. Better yet, when I set it back to 120 DPI and rebooted it worked properly after that too.

Problem is in the DPI scaling.
GOTO Google chrome Icon and right click PROPERTIES
then check DISABLE DISPLAY SCALING ON HIGH DPI SETTINGS
and then it will work.

Go to Properties > Compatibility > Tick the first box and change it to "Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1).
