Ok Found it.
In Opera (Opera10) export the bookmarks as a bookmarks.html. If it doesn't export as html change the file extension to this
Open Chrome. Go to Tools >Bookmark manager >Tools >Import Bookmarks and you will be asked for bookmarks.html. Find out where you save the file and import this file and they are there..

Hello, currently there is no importer for Firefox, maybe old3eyes technique will work. Worth a try :)

How do I change the file extension to html, though?

Go to the Control Panel, and switch it to the classic view. Go to Folder Options, and go to View. Untick the box for "Hide extensions for known file types".
You should then be able to right-click the .htm file, and rename it to .html.

When I go to bookmark manager, I am unable to find tools within that for importing the file. Has this changed since the above answers?

"When I go to bookmark manager, I am unable to find tools within that for importing the file. Has this changed since the above answers?"Having the same problem. ???
Tools >Bookmark manager >Tools >Import Bookmarks : Why going to Tools (nested Tools) in two steps?

Easiest answer: export yr opera bookmarks to yr desktop as a HTML file. Right click on file and select "Open With", choose Chrome. Enable bookmarks bar in options/basics (under the spanner icon). Drag the links from the browser window to the bookmarks bar. Done!

P.S. rodjmcbeath, yes the browser has changed, it now only offers the option of importing file from IE, there's no browse button to find a file on yr system. Luckily there's always another way.

The Chrome menus have changed a little. In order to import the Opera bookmarks that you have exported as a .html file using the Opera import/export function, open Chrome then left click the spanner >Bookmarks >Bookmark manager >Organize >Import bookmarks from HTML file.... A window will open, from there find the location of your .html file, left click it, then left click 'Open' (located at the bottom of the window). Your Opera bookmarks will now be stored under...Bookmarks bar >Imported >Opera, etc.
'digigod's way will not work (as I understand it), you would only be able to drag individual URL's to the Bookmarks Bar. Also if you drag the .html Opera bookmark file directly into Chrome, it will only appear as an endless stream of text as opposed to it's usual tree appearance.

Husky1's method works. Just remember that at least with my Opera the html-file it exported was .htm so Chrome did not find it. You need to rename it to .html and then it works like a charm!
