For those of us with Android phones synced up with our Google calendar. When accessing the calendar from a desktop you can only set reminders to send you a text or an email. There should be a third option in the dropdown box - "Sync to Android Device." That way the reminder will actually be in your calendar in your pocket rather than having to mess with a text or email. And you can snooze the calendar alert.

Looks like this is implemented with the 'pop-up' reminder.

So to clarify, this is now an option?

I have android 1.6 on a HTC phone with vodaphone in australia and there are three options for notifications for reminders and alerts including the notifications task bar at the top of the screen. It was set to the android notification by default.
To locate type of reminder view the calendar, click on menu, slect settings, alerts and notifications. It gives two options including alert or status bar notification. Not sure what alert does, but the later is what you are after.

This DOES NOT work properly or in an intuitive way. The way it SHOULD work is that for an android paired device, a popup notification from the online calendar should always trigger a phone alert (popup or status bar, whichever is configured on the device). And it should ALWAYS work, changing the notification on the web or phone should always change it on the other location on the next sync.
For some reason this doesn't always happen.
It appears that some combination of deselecting calendars and/or clearing calendar data from the application manager works for most people in getting things reset. No idea if this "solution" holds up over time, or what causes the remonders to stop working.
