I would like an answer to this as well...
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||FaganSC||7/6/11 8:33 AM|
From all the posts I've been reading on Google Plus for Google Apps users, Google Profiles (and Google Plus) should be coming to Apps users soon. It sounds like Google wants to roll this out to there EDU Google Apps users first, which tell me that this is something they would want to do this summer before schools start up again in the fall. Hopefully the use of Google Profiles and Google Plus rolls out soon to us Google Apps users, since my Apps account is my primary personal account and I'm trying to not use my old Gmail account for stuff anymore. I really don't want to fire up my old Gmail account and create a Google Plus account to check out this new system. I would really like to keep all my stuff under my Personal Google Apps Account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||francis ew||7/8/11 5:02 AM|
I'm in the exact same situation as FaganSC. I also realize that there are good reasons for not rolling plus out to everyone simultaneously, but it would be extremely helpful if Google could post a timeframe or some type of rollout plan information.

Yes it will be available, see this article:
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||seppoMAKER||7/9/11 9:53 AM|
If I can't use my google-app account and google-app email for the google-products, I don't use them... simple as that. Really hoping they can give us app-account user the same benefits all everyone else gets :)
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Drakimor||7/9/11 3:18 PM|
I'm in the same boat... would really rather not start using my non-apps account again, I've put a LOT of work into consolidating everything on to the apps one.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||ChrisBeachUK||7/10/11 3:22 PM|
Very frustrating to migrate my online identity over to my Google Apps account and be denied new Google services. Glad I'm not paying for the Apps account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||KathBlair||7/11/11 4:41 PM|
I would also really like this feature. I also hope there will be an easy mechanism for people to migrate their Google Plus profiles and circles to an Apps account. Especially since its their early adopters who are likely to have their whole online identity hinged on a personal Apps account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||meboweb||7/12/11 4:28 AM|
I agree. I went to apps to get the power of gmail with my domain name and just after being transitioned we are left in the dark again.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||AustinTech||7/12/11 1:41 PM|
It's kind of ridiculous because I am now buiulding these Circles of friends and an infastructure of social networking and when profiles are available I will have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. Google has really dropped the ball here.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||ferricoxide||7/12/11 4:04 PM|
Think of it this way, guys, Google is pretty much forcing you to keep your various Google-related presences separated. That's probably a Good Thing(TM).
I'm pretty certain that I'm going to be keeping my GV, my email, my photos and my social media assigned to different accounts so that an "oops" in one doesn't completely cripple me.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||marcbschauber||7/13/11 3:12 AM|
Guys, you have to stop looking at this as 'Google as screwed you..' They haven't. When you sign up for or manage Google Apps, Google makes it VERY VERY clear that not all services are available. Google Apps is meant to be used for business, not personal. They have made great strides in allowing us gApps users to use the account for personal as well as business. They haven't pulled the wool over your eyes. They never said the gApps accounts are the same as a Google account and have made it nauseatingly clear what services are supported with gApps and which ones work, but are not supported.
Second, Do you really want all your personal data in your business account? If you own your own company/domain, maybe you do. But then you have to think about whether you want your business email address associated with whatever you may do in your 'personal' life. If you work for somebody else, do you really want them to have full access to your personal data? Because they do and again, Google has made that VERY clear and continues to with notifications on services that may contain personal data instead of business data. Think about it this way... If you use Google Checkout, your employer will have access to see your purchases, credit card info, etc. And you have already given them permission to access that data, so you can't complain down the road and say, "but I didn't know."
Google will get around to adding profiles back to gApps and at that time you'll be able to use G+. Remember, G+ is barely two weeks old. Gmail was something like 5 years old when gApps started rolling out to the public. You won't have to wait that long for G+, in fact if I was a betting man I'd say we will have profiles back before the end of August, probably closer the end of July/beginning of August.
Meanwhile I'm playing around with it on a gmail account so I get a feel for everything. I'm holding off on creating most circles and inviting colleagues/friends/family until I can use my gApps account. And yes, I decided 5 years ago when I opened my gApp account to use one for work and personal, but I own my own business. I have two domain names in my gApps account, one personal, one business. They are similar names and am perfectly happy having any and everyone associate me with my domain names, whether people I work with or people I socialize with. But that was a well thought out decision.

|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||tcurwen||7/13/11 12:57 PM|
Actually Google has screwed me. I had a personal account and an organization account using the same email (both set in 2006 and at the time I had no idea it actually happened). Today (after setting up Google Plus), I get prompted to migrate my data from my personal account to my organization account - okay so far. The problem is it won't migrate the Google Plus data, and now it won't let me use my personal account for Google Plus - so I'm effectively locked out!
-1 for Google on this one.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||marcbschauber||7/13/11 1:55 PM|
I was in the same boat, although I had created the google account with the same email addy on purpose in order to use services not part of apps. But Google sent out LOTS of emails about the change in account types, it was all over the admin console for apps. It was discussed on every blog from here to the moon and as one of the first to choose to merge my accounts, I hit a # of problems, but they were not without warnings, so I had no one to blame but myself. Currently Google has made moving data from more and more of their products VERY easy, unlike when I did it and most had to be done manually.
Like I mentioned, you CAN export your G+ data, but not sure about being able to import it.
I suggest posting questions in the gApps forums as well, to get a different perspective.

I want to know how we can develop apps and widgets for google+. In Facebook you can develop games and customized posting, Can we do that with Google+ ? Also Is there a widget to completely transfer all your links and posts to Google+ ?
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||albion01||7/14/11 2:24 PM|
@marcbschauber: Some of us use the free version of Google Apps to manage our families. I have a domain for my household and use Google Apps as a portal to the internet for my family. Yes, my family and I want it to be able to share personal information. Social networking is something everyone is using, even my Mom (at 65 yo). It would be awesome if there were management controls so that a father could easily watch what his kids were doing. Facebook lacks this in a major way!!
You know, this is a huge problem with a lot services on the internet. Providers expect people to use them on an individual bases, but a lot of us want more control over our families internet experience without having to purchase servers and server OSs.
And, what about an internal corporate Social Network for business purposes? Maybe with a portal to the public version of the G+? It's an awesome idea. Sometimes I don't want to send an e-mail or use the phone when an IM or status update would be a better bet. Sure I could install all kinds of little apps (IM, Video Chat, etc...) but it would be nice to have it all in one place.

I'm also waiting for this functionality.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||tbateson||7/16/11 12:20 AM|
I agree with posts asking for google apps support. I do not use features that need a regular gmail account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||webjames1||7/19/11 9:27 AM|
does this imply that i had not transitioned my account i could have had access to Google Plus?
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Ballocks||7/20/11 8:40 AM|
This is actually stupid in my opinion, I have users on my account who like my domain name, but they have invites for Google Plus and can not sign up due to this restriction, its not just the app owners registered Email that's a problem, its the users you have register also.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||JCWert||7/21/11 1:12 PM|
It infuriates me that Google puts a message on my account that I "must" merge my personal account and apps and then turns around and essentially blocks me out of my Google+ account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||TheWebMistress||7/24/11 10:40 AM|
These generic answers of things like, "should be" and "very soon" are maddening as all hell. We're business users for goodness sake and need concrete time frames!!! Hell, even a ballpark time frame would be acceptable!
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||socalcabs||7/26/11 9:45 AM|
I would like access as well and think that "paying" apps customers should get access ASAP, if for nothing more than to secure their namesakes, personal and business.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||goodlifeteam||7/26/11 4:57 PM|
We're a paying user of Google Apps, with 30+ accounts. My users are clamoring to use google plus, and I want to know if I can have them use personal gmail accounts and then transition their plus data to their apps accounts later (so they don't have to rebuild their networks, etc).
I am also a little weary of google treating paying apps customers as 2nd class citizens. We're paying the freight, and are the last to get the new products if we get them at all.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||MGM23||7/27/11 4:10 PM|
Google + requires a Google Profile, and a Google profile can be created with any email address in the world EXCEPT Google's own apps addresses. GOOD F****in job Google. F you.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||kevquirk9780||8/8/11 11:00 AM|
Why not just register for a free gmail account and then set your google apps account to collect the gmail emails. When google apps finally get profiles you can just change your email account...that's what I have done.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||daesquiv||8/8/11 12:44 PM|
Hey guys! I think it is available already... At least for me is working suddenly, starting today.....
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||alex.goris||8/8/11 2:06 PM|
@daesquiv are you messing with us or is this for real?
Still no luck on my side :-(
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||daesquiv||8/8/11 2:19 PM|
Hey Alex, why would I mess around with this? Take a look, this is a screenshot of the prove:
Weird thing is that I am not able to manage Circles. Also I can see that the people in my circles are the same as in my gmail account when I was playing around with Google +.
Try this. Login to google plus using a Gmail account, while logged in, in the same browser, log in to your google apps account. At some point you will notice that the email on your plus account is the same as your apps. Thats what it happened to me.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||jl-johnlittle||8/13/11 10:35 PM|
Use google for everything, business and personal. Recently migrated G Acct data to Apps and using Apps exclusively. Patiently waiting to be able to use Plus.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||pou_v||8/14/11 3:05 PM|
Anyone knows, when the service is running for google apps??
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||RaveemIsmail||8/18/11 6:07 PM|
Incredible. What daesquiv says is true. Following his instructions *does* lead to an eventual pseudo-login for an Apps account on Google+. As long as you don't click a link which refreshes the entire page (taking you back to "+ isn't available for Apps"), eventually, your Apps email *will* show on the top right and you can do some limited stuff.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||JohnPent||8/26/11 6:35 AM|
I cannot recreate this solution from daesquiv. Is that only working per session, or does this work from that point forward?
Like everyone on this thread, I would like to be able to use it with Google Apps, or access it with ease. I know that google wants this to be a personal thing, and not so much of a work thing. For those of us who own our businesses and use google apps for home and office, the old gmail address is never used. It adds confusion to others. It creates one more box to check. I have truly been away from my personal gmail for about three years, although I do have i forwarding to my apps account. We all know how that works, if someone sends you and email and you don't get it, you have to go to the original google mail account to see if it was pushed into spam. Nobody knows my old gmail account, so it is not a big deal anymore. With this, I can see that being a constant issue again.
As for the comments from "marcbschauber" - get a life. We all have paid google for years and we know the rules. However, things like google plus and circles will likely take off big. We want to be able to not have our gmail non-app address tied to something we want to use through our app address.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||mroberts16||9/1/11 8:37 AM|
I am a die hard Google user.... why did Google not invite those that sync every possible piece of their life and share Google apps with the world not get invited? I can't tell you how many people I've introduced and got them started using Google products. Those friends got invites and other friends that don't use Google got invites..... just curious (and no, it's not in spam)
What was the process for this?
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Gmail_Form||9/3/11 4:36 PM|
The last time I check Google Apps is marketed to the business/enterprise customers not consumer users. Theres a lot more precautions/testing that needs to be taken before you roll a service out to enterprise customers.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||marcbschauber||9/3/11 5:51 PM|
Hallelujah, someone putting some thought into their answer instead of just complaining. May the cooler heads prevail.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Sean James||9/4/11 8:30 AM|
Really cant wait for Google Apps users to get this service. I don't want to register for a free account to only lose it down the track when app users can use +
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Michel_M||9/6/11 1:49 AM|
I agree that you don't just push a new untested service to enterpise customers. But Google Apps has plenty of private users as well (yours truly included). So far Google has been excellent at giving Google Apps users the choice to activate any service (from bèta to proven) by their own choice. Personally, I'd have gladly chosen to activate this service for myself and my family. Enterprise customers who don't want to run the risk of using something that's still being tested never have to notice a thing. I see no reason to make us (consumer) Google Apps users wait longer then the basic gmail users.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||alex.goris||9/8/11 1:38 PM|
Since about a good week now I can suddenly check in to places using latitude on my android phone which has only my google apps account linked to it.
I tried this a long time ago and it didn't work back then because checking in was not allowed for google apps users, but left the setting to checkin automatically at home, and lat week suddenly saw that I was checked in automatically... Hopefully a sign of things to come!
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||LWI932||9/9/11 1:28 AM|
Perhaps Google's target market is Business/Enterprise users, but families, individuals and other small groups also use Apps. We are all waiting for services like profiles and plus to be rolled out. Of course, testing must be done before they can do this - - being an I.T. professional I do understand the "why" of the delay.
However, the reason so many are 'complaining' is that Google remains silent on the anticipated time line. In one post it was said it would be rolled out in March that date has come and gone with no further statements made by Google regarding a new target date or why the March date was missed. The longer the wait without information on when Google anticipates rolling this out to the Apps users (and who will get it first), the more people will complain.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||ashrock||9/9/11 2:54 PM|
Yeah, I think we've all been guilty of missing deadlines at one point or another. Sometimes you think you're making a small change, only to discover that your entire system is going to break unless you redesign it from the ground-up.
I actually like this about Google's approach because it allows them to put stuff out quicker instead of aiming for perfection. None of us are perfect.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||ADV Rider||9/20/11 2:30 PM|
Some of the Apps users, myself included, actually PAY Google. Yet, we're the last to get any new features.
Who else to better promote Google's new product that the users who are already promoting the other products? This is a poor business decision.
Now it's being released to the public.. apps users still have no access..
There is ZERO official communication from Google with an actually COMMITMENT to a release date for Apps users..
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||alex.goris||9/20/11 2:31 PM|
@ADV Rider : That's about exactly what I thought when I read the news...
I'm happy that I'm not a paying apps-user...
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||ADV Rider||9/20/11 2:33 PM|
Oh.. and for those who claim "incompatibility" or "technical problems"
Excuses are for grade-school kids, not global companies.
Forethought and planning resolve engineering hurdles.
I might be more forgiving if we were talking about a company with 6 employees and hasn't received a first round of funding. We're not. We're talking about a company with resources so vast you can't truly comprehend it.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||gareth824||9/20/11 5:31 PM|
This is pretty insane... the Google+ service was launched today and I can use it with my Google Apps service? Ironically, if I hosted my domain somewhere else, I could!!! This was understandable 2 months ago (barely)... you are now live and real... this is crazy.
Your inability to integrate this basic functionality is concerning.
(BTW, I've seen some posts where people suggest just logging in as a gmail address. You can't do that anymore with Google... I would have to log out of email to use Google+. Right... I guess I could use a separate browser... but still... MY email address is NOT my gmail.com one.
What are those Google product managers doing?
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||jwelt||9/21/11 10:51 AM|
For those of you waiting (like myself) for G+ to be supported for Apps here's an update.
"New stuff on G+ today that biz/edu will love! Working hard to bring G+ to Google Apps in the very near future!"
It sounds like they are making progress... let's hope it is sooner rather than later.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||aaronbieber||9/22/11 4:05 AM|
I agree with Michel M. I will also point out that my Apps account is unable to log into YouTube as well, so that's another place where the integration with standard Google accounts fails. I just don't log into YouTube anymore because you can only be logged into one Google account at a time and it logs me out of everything else. What a pain.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||chaturadilan||9/23/11 6:36 PM|
why dont you allow google apps accounts to add to a normal google account in google plus. then one user profile can be shared withing a several apps account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Rickpina||9/27/11 1:12 PM|
I have been very patient. But now that Google + is available to everyone BUT the actual people who have bought into the Google way, this is getting very frustrating. It makes no sense to me at all.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||malmazroui||9/29/11 2:20 AM|
we are paying money and we are last to get new features! whats the logic?
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Jcrosby||9/29/11 6:19 AM|
For those of you saying how Google is separating personal from business, that is just a load of crap. If we are on here trying to activate a Google+ account with our apps account, then coming to a forum to post about the fact that it is a problem, then we know what we are doing and what we want from our apps experience, and to try and tell us that we are supposed to accept the fact that they should be separate is a load of bullocks!
If you do not want your business and personal accounts ties together, then don't tie them together, however, I'd you want to be able to have one single account, then the option should ALWAYS be there, not when Google gets around to it. How many + users is Google losing right not because apps users are not able to create a + account? All Google services should be able to be used by ALL Google users.
I also understand if Google does not want to roll out an unfinished product to paying customers, but those customers do not have to use that product until it is complete, and if Google is so worried about a product being unfinished, then why release it before it is fully functional? Wait until you have it working, then release it.
It is just ridiculous to keep leaving the PAYING customers in the dark while the non-paying customers get new features first, that is a completely backward business plan!
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Chevex117||9/30/11 9:22 AM|
@Jcrosby Not only that but a Google Apps account does not automatically equal business. I use their standard apps account and their is the educational apps account option as well. My apps account is for personal use. CodeTunnel.com is the central place for me and my interests, therefor my email Alex@CodeTunnel.com is my single unifying identity from everything related to me. I refuse to use google plus on a plain throw-away gmail account and thus I have stuck to Facebook. It has been months since we were told apps support for G+ was "coming" and I'm pretty confident that, just like when they promised profiles long before G+, it is not going to happen. I think despite the fact that most apps customers are PAYING customers, apps users must still be a minority because we constantly get the shaft.
I could understand if development is taking longer than usual. I'm a developer and I know how it goes. What I can't understand is why they insist on being so silent about it. Why not stop in once in a while to assure us it's still being worked on? I think it's because it's NOT being worked on.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||yuanyeorg||10/2/11 3:46 PM|
This is very frustrating. But I talked with one Googler who works on integrating Google+ into Apps. I'm pretty sure they're working really hard. There are just terrible assumptions in the old apps code that they need to clean up. I was expecting it to be done by the end of September tho.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||x_patator||10/3/11 5:04 AM|
I guess this was the end of September last week-end... still no news... but oh, wait, end of september 2021 may be ?

Google Apps Gmail was unavailable for like 5 mins last weekend. I suspect they were migrating something.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||Chevex117||10/12/11 9:00 AM|
Still nothing. I know it's a free product, but what is wrong with stopping in for two seconds and saying "Hang tight guys, still working on it :)"? It really just sucks because I am so excited to use an awesome Google product, but I just can't get over having to use it on a plain gmail account.
|Re: Will Google Plus be available for Google Apps users?||PageError||10/12/11 3:00 PM|
hey you all, I was just reading about Google + and what looks like over %60 of users are inactive and when they opened registration for all ( well not for all that was a misleading since excludes all domain app users ) the registration was increased but then again what looks like it's going to be a Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz that did not really worked for Google at all and what looks like they are not working to improve Google Apps at all and I'm already considering switching to different provider . Google starting to be less and less reliable on promises that they make and DO NOT deliver .

It looks like they are setting up the back end for us.

I was very delighted to read Dave Girouard announce 'it's a matter of days'...
But in the meantime I'm starting to think I liked it better when they didn't tell us anything instead of lying to us!
Dave's 'day's' have become a week now and still nothing.
I'm just glad i'm not a paying apps user...

I understand that Google+ for Education is only being made available to colleges, because Google+ requires users to be 18. We are a K12 Google Apps customer that maintains separate domains for staff, students, and parents. Can we enable Google+ for our staff and parent domains, just not our student domain? It would be extremely valuable for staff to be able to collaborate.

You can make a Org structure for your domain witch allow certain user access different features on your account see link below
