Missing 20-25% of transactions sbrown 1/7/09 1:37 PM After looking at our data for the past year, quarter and month (or any time period really) I found GA consistent missed 20-25% of our transactions. I have noticed this for a long time and silently hoped it would get better. After research and readin
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions ShoreTel 1/8/09 6:21 PM Google Analytics does not track the percentage of visitors who do not have JavaScript enabled (what you are seeing is Java support not JavaScript support, there is a difference). If the visitor does not have JavaScript enabled, GA will never see them
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Squeebo 5/2/09 10:44 PM I'm missing about 20% of my transactions as well. It doesn't seem plausible that 20% of visitors have javascript disabled. That's beyond any estimates I've seen. Almost nobody even knows how to turn it off anymore.
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions andiec79 9/10/09 3:01 PM hmm, i agree with squeebo, but if it has any truth, the only way to find out would be some other analytics program maybe the one from the server and comparing.. why would google overlook this anyways? even if the case was that the percentage of peopl
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions joeworkman 10/10/09 9:49 AM I guess I feel a little bit better that I am not the only one having this issue. I am missing a large percentage of my transactions as well. I have searched these forums and have seen a large number of people having the same issues. I am shocked the
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions jdallen88 10/24/09 8:32 PM I would assume that most users that have JavaScript disabled may be using office/library/school/etc. computers to access the internet and thus don't have the privileges to change it. That's just what I think though. Off-topic, but I understand that t
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions chuckbuck 11/17/09 11:34 AM I have the same issue. Missing 20-25% of eCommerce transactions. I am also not convinced that it is properly reporting the source of all transactions, though I have gone over my code and tested numerous times.
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions edzn 11/28/09 11:46 AM check if these are paypal orders, unless you are using paypal pro in your shopping cart, GA wont track the transaction, since the customer leaves your site and goes to paypal to finish the transaction
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Squeebo 11/28/09 12:21 PM That's not true. I use Credit Card Offline Processing and Paypal IPN Website Payments Standard. Both methods are usually recorded by Analytics and both have the minority percentage of unrecorded sales in Analytics.
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions mdg333 12/1/09 3:55 AM Hi Sbrown, I just posted a similar problem. See http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Analytics/thread?tid=5de7c2265c85d030&hl=en As I say in my post tracking is actually accurate until the step prior to the final confirmation, so the java
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Elbenwald 12/3/09 2:21 AM we have the same problem... around 20% of our transactions are missing in the stats... I couldn't find any characteristic features of the missing orders... - no bad characters - missing orders for all sort of payment 20% of our customers with no j
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions sbrown 12/3/09 4:59 AM Still missing around 20% of transactions on average. Last month was the best only missing around 10%. I am going to try the new asynchronous tracking method as soon I have time to implement it: http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/asy
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions yakov.zh 12/3/09 5:44 AM I experience the same problem, too. I miss significant number of transactions, sometimes about 50%. I use 3rd party shopping cart (share-it!) and I've configured GA to track cross-domain site and double-checked everything. Nevertheless some transacti
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions trancton 12/3/09 6:05 AM I am experiencing the same thing, and around the same percentage, 20-25%. Also, I am using Traceworks Headlight on the same site, and Headlight tracks it 100% correct! I want to ditch Headlight and only use GA, but how can I when GA is off by 1/4?
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Walkerbout 12/3/09 7:44 PM If you're using a 3rd party shopping cart you need to make sure your GATC is placed above your order links (buttons); preferably just under the opening <body> tag. See note from: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answ
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions yakov.zh 12/3/09 8:39 PM Yes, I use calls to linker and GATC is located at the top. I understand why it should be there. Recently it was at the bottom of the page, but after I set up the e-commerce module I moved them to top. Again, I double-checked everything on my side and
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Walkerbout 12/3/09 9:04 PM I know it's much much help - but the only conclusion I can make is that customers are clicking on the order links before the GATC </ga.js> has fully loaded. It's certainly a possibility if customers know what they want to purchase (they're familiar w
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions East D 1/12/10 8:50 AM Just adding myself to the list of persons experiencing this problem. I have come to a decision that I do not want to rely on a page load (of an invoice/receipt) on the client machine to report my transactions to GA. Is there a way to accomplish the
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Peter Kay 2/10/10 5:00 PM Adding myself to the list of users with problems as well. Not meant to be a useful post, just want to be counted.
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions door2 4/11/10 7:28 AM We have the same problems, more than 80% transactions are missing. We looked at the code several times, checked international charactersets, digit formats, length of designations and so on - but nothing improved the situation. Our users have JavaScri
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions evergreen66780 4/29/10 7:53 AM I'll add my two cents. We have the same problem but on only two of our three accounts. Prior to November, 2009, Analytics captured almost 100% of transactions on all three stores. In November, the numbers plunged. As of April, 2010, Analytics continu
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Caleb Whitmore @AnalyticsPros 5/18/10 8:48 AM All, Well, I just wrote a fabulous, multi-page response answering all your questions... then by browser crashed (Firefox... shoulda been using Chrome!) and lost it.  An abbreviated summary: It's not a lack of JavaScript Support I've tested script-b
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions mdg333 5/18/10 5:21 PM At last some useable advice. Thanks Caleb. While the "bad coding" excuse is given all the time very few people tell you what to do about it, other than to spend $250 an hour on a GA Consultant. What would be even more useful is if Google itself act
Re: Missing 20-25% of transactions Caleb Whitmore @AnalyticsPros 5/18/10 7:17 PM @mdg333: Thanks for the feedback regarding my response.  Glad to hear you've found this more substantive. The truth is that "bad coding" is a reality because unfortunately far too few people who engineer Google Analytics integrations have spent the

That being said, I recently discovered that our Analytics in
